Kudos to Herger the Joyous for doing a few things today.
1) When being tortured, he screamed, he winced, and he realistically responded to pain in a weakened, helpless condition. I'm far more accustomed to people trying to be big shots and laughing as their face is carved up, and making threats while they're being burned alive. I tend to find that tiring and ridiculous, but Herger actually reacted realistically despite the situation being completely in the negative for his character.
2) He was a good sport about it, and didn't whine, complain, or bicker about what was happening. He made his Escape Artist rolls and what not, and from that point on, he just allowed for things to transpire as the RP carried it.
3) After the entire scene, he allowed for his character to take on lasting consequences. He didn't simply walk away as though nothing happened, and instead actually RP'ed the psychological and emotional trauma that might be expected, based on what was done to him.
All in all, I thought it was all a positive experience, and handled very well for the first time in my torturing experience, thus far. Kudos.
