Because familiars are not supposed to be tanks that allow wizards and sorcerers to solo everything starting at first level. :P What I would like is the ability to take an Improved Familiar feat and get something cool like that -- oh, how I loved my panther...

In AD&D you made sure your familiar was well protected, because if you died, then you took that hit point loss and may never get the familiar back. A wizard with a couple hit points would go unconscious with that loss. So, I don't have any problem with current familiars and their restrictions - mages are overpowered anyway.
What I think NWN1 and NWN2 missed is XP for skills, especially rogue skills. Baldur's gate was great at giving points for skills used (I wouldn't give to the whole party though). I know if it was implemented in Sundren there could be abuse, but you could probably code that you only get the xp once for a certain trap (maybe) and people that grind are technically abusing the system also.

I for one would like to see some more roleplaying items. It doesn't really need to work, hell doesn't even need to be visable. I think it'll improve roleplaying if were for instance able to buy some rope, a piece of cloth or a cooking pan. I've already found a spoon and a mug, but there aren't any other besides those, are there?Character:

The wizards will have a new homonculus familiar.
Druids will eventually earn a dragon companion at epic levels.Zorn Terinus - the arcane scientist

Part of this is lack of icons too. NWN1 CEP spoiled us. It had tons of icons.Originally posted by Ivar View PostI for one would like to see some more roleplaying items. Its probably going to be a hatchling or something. I doubt they'd be running around with huge ass dragons >_>. Oh, and fine, maybe the familiar was over-powered, but what about mage summons? they screwed those up too. If i summon a monster...
1. it goes away way too quick
2. It sucks, like that Shadow Meffit Summon. a level 3 summon creature > Level 5 summon creature for some reason.

Hellball.
Ok ok, it's not really a big thing, and it would probably take a lot of effort to change, but seriously...the Hellball effect in MotB is utterly pathetic. Especially compared to the awesome nwn1 one. In fact, if there was a way to transplant the nwn1 hellball effect into nwn2, I'd say it would be worth it.
Also worthy of note for being lame is the spell effect for 'Weird'. The nwn1 one was...well, weird, but much better than the current one, and also a fun dm tool in the right hands

Necromancy is shoddy. Conjuration for its conjuration aspect (summoning monsters) is shoddy. Archery is shoddy. Stealth is still fucked up. Many spell durations are fucked up (if Dominate Person is 1 day per level in PnP, there's no reason it shouldn't be that in-game. And it shouldn't expire on resting. We should be able to take control of NPCs and have them follow us as permanent companions as long as we keep applying the Dominate every couple of days.)
Also, Improved Familiars is needed. I miss being able to choose things like Imps, Mephits, etc. With the Red Wizard companion in MotB having a Homunucili familiar, we should have been at least able to get that.-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

doubt a neutral good druid would be running around with a red dragon companion.
