Unless I missed something in the game, I didn't see an 'auction house' - or a building of the sorts where you can auction equipment off. If there isn't one in Sundren, please think about implementing one.
I have seen other servers use the forums to announce that a player has an item to sell. With the crafting system of the game, we will have a lot of things to get rid of. I don't know how much junk you find as you adventure, but I'm sure ther are things you're going to want to get rid of for more than a merchant will is likely to pay.
Another way to unload goods is to find a place to hang out and act as your own store. This is something I would be likely to do once I have enough stuff to sell.
On the NWN server I played the most, people used to gather up stuff they wanted to sell, and sometimes a small group of people got together, and then announced the auction on the forum. Then people could show up and the auction was on. It was a lot of fun usually. And sometimes the DMs showed up (as nobles or adventurers) to sell special stuff.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
I just have one concern about this 'auction house'.
You're going to be encouraging heaps of farming with players trying to find 'rares' to sell.
From an RP standpoint, I'd rather see a place where any player smiths who have 'made objects' can sell their wares..with the occaisonal DM NPC's coming in as suggested. But then of course woudl that just mean players woudl create smiths alts for this sole purpose? (ugh!)
My point? I'm forseeing more of the same thing we're trying to prevent: Item farmers...who'd then have an excuse to do it and sell.
Guess it's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations?
There's a thin line between the definition of genius and insanity; I cross it all the time.

Well ya, then again people can be encouraged to farm for themselves, or for the gold.. alot of reasons. And on other servers I never seen people farm more because a player (or more ) is a merchant.
Fret and fear, for Europe is near.

Good points. Grinding and farming is the death of fun and a good roleplaying server.

"Masterwork crafting." This has a distinct possibility of happening.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
I would never never never never never never put in automated PC to PC selling. Never.
The benefit of PC to PC selling is you have no cap. The player can sell or buy for whatever they want. If people chase this avenue, they are going to have to RP it. If they want to hold auctions IC where players come and bid IC'ly with auctioneers, then that's fine.
I will never ever put in auctionhouse/stores where players gain items they don't want and stick them there and forget them.

*taken note*
Then could it be possible to have a monthly auction? It could be a cool event :O
Musical Instrument Crafting... Interactive bard music playing console...
I want to be able to actually press buttons and make notes so I can play songs other than what is in-game for purposes of rp and other activities... I always wanted this in an RPG for bards and so far, I have yet to see it. It wouldn't be hard... just don't to it in a dialogue format so that the song actually sounds correct to other players... but then again, I dream big.
Maleficus "Ravenor" Carnificis "Dreams... such fertile ground for the seeds of torment. I can sense your ripeness and, oddly enough, it is time for the harvest. Please, save your tears... I intend to reap your sorrow slowly and have ages to discover the things that make you suffer... I am eager to revel in the sweet melody of your screams and the melancholy of your despair..." One thing I do not wish to see is psionics. I've roleplayed psionics for a long time, and everyone always deviates from the base rules horribly and decides their character now has an infinite amount of ability with their abilities. Not to mention psionics adds such feats as, "I'm Neo!" and "Watch Me Run at 60 MPH!" Yeah.
Doing something like psionics is best left to a single player campaign focusing on it or the PrC doing it. This is also a game mechanic that just has too many headaches.
