  • A heads up on the level cap changes..

Level caps are now determined off of time spent playing, rather than the number of days your character exists. Expect some tweaking over the next few days or so, but if you've spent relatively much time out hunting then your actual current level may come out higher than your cap. Meaning you won't get more experience from kills until you've spent more time on the server (in whatever way you prefer). The time it takes for your cap to increase is listed on your PCStats function, available from the menu and the Sundren Player UI.

Even if you're over your cap, the 30 xp trickle will keep going. Provided you're not yet level 20 or above.

Thank you for that explanation, I was wondering why Vigo was suddenly capped at 15. Just to clarify, the timer on the cap increase is time spent on server correct?

Falmari & Peligir are both capped at 20 at the moment and are lvl 8 & 9 respectively. Should I expect this to change or should things stay as they are now?

If you've played enough to be capped at 20 in the system's current state, your cap won't be lowered. But a cap adjustment will be added in based on how long the character exists, assuming the online time to be at least X time per day.

This cap adjustment gradually assumes less minimum time played per day for higher caps, and you can't reach a cap of 20 this way.

i just want to go on record saying: i dont like this new method.

i have a few (four or five) active charaters and dont often have a lot of time to just sit around on the server.

call me ADD but i cant devote my time to just one character i get bored too easily. i much prefer variety and i feel this system will severely set back my enjoyment of this world.

i can understand reasons for this change but none of them imho are worth it to me.

another point some folk are able to just log there character and let the program run thus acumlating ingame time just sitting there. i think some of us dont have that luxury, well least i dont.

perhaps some combination of ingame and date-of-creation could determine level cap?
just a thought, i hate to offer critisizm without construtive comment.

You can still switch out between characters if you like, the only real influence this change has is that it encourages dividing your time more between hunting and doing other things. That's no different for someone who plays only one character; they may get a higher cap on that one character, but they will hit it more quickly.

Read up.. working on that already. Time since creation is used to set a minimum cap.

Going to put some prevention in for that too.

Well I have to agree with gbbishop on this; Peligir has been on the server for hmmm nearly two years and he is only level nine.

People who want to acheive many levels quickly will ALWAYS manage to do so, I think this new system will just punish those who dont want to level to twenty in a week by not allowing them to level at all untill they have spent enough hours on the server!

People will just resort to leaving their PCs AFK in a dark corner till their cap goes up

*edit* Grr Kaeldorn, you beat me to it!

I think I like this change. After all limitations are properly implemeted, it should be quite good. As it was I found I was level five before I knew what to do with all that new-found power. And I know this is a rediculous concern, as it takes much longer to level up at higher levels, I'm sure, but I just like to take things slowly regardless of my level.

It does the exact opposite? As it puts a halt to the effectiveness of characters who solely grind.. That becomes relatively less rewarding now when compared to non-AI combat RP involvement. It 'punishes' those who do want to level to 20 in a few weeks because it's no longer possible unless they never sleep

I didn't say there was a lot of power involved!

People will feel less motivated to try to grind to 20 when there are more granular amounts of zones to explore at the lower level range.

It is my intent with the (initial) spine done to focus more on level 3-9 zones in the future.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
