On average, Polar bears are bigger, but the biggest recorded ever bears were Grizzlies.

This is also a Kodiak bear, (see Gamling's previous comment) which is also known as the Alaskan Grizzly. All of this I knew because I have seen the movie 'The Edge' and you should too.The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I also seem to remember reading something about Auril having an army of immortal giant polar bears with adamanite claws and awesome ice carving skills (they carved her palace).
I expect they'd rank highly in the 'Best Bear' stakes.It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.
