Yeah, but why fight? There's no need to fight at all.

Admittedly, 75% of the players here also like to fight (wild guess of mine), but you are the first to openly 'mention' that with this system installed your game experience is ruined.

Well, in that case you will have to look for another server..... do remember that there are lots of DMs on at times and events/quests can be loads of fun and yield quite a bunch of XP, too.

Your character should also have some kind of 'story' which you could develop. Be creative and you'll have fun without the need to fight at all!

Edit: Concerning your edit/addition - you want this game to work like normal D&D? Well, then you should only be allowed X fights per day, much less resting and many more restrictions that we have in PnP D&D. Seriously, you do not seem to want this to be like normal D&D you just don't have fun with the system in place here.
Personally, I like this system very much because the players either start rping more because fighting gets useless XP-wise (YAY for rp!), play another character a bit (YAY for diversity!) or leave the server because they think the system 'stinks'. It's all your choice.

Well, if you're getting 1 xp it means you had got way too much xp up til now, according to the planned progression in the server

Comparing this to D&D about xp is uber bogus. How long would you take to be the level 7 you are now in PnP? Considering a regular group that played one or two times per week you would probably take about 2 months in all but the most epic-headed campaigns. Even in a fast leveling campaign you would take in the very least a month.

I must Disagree with you.. About that my group we play 1 time a week for 8-12 hours and we get plenty of levels. about 1-4 a session In Epic lvls which at lower levels we where doing about 5 lvls a session

Level-crazy campaigns need not apply Your group is the bizarre exception, not the rule and certainly not the ideal.

Anks - I am not saying you are wrong in anything at all. Everyone should play any game the way she/he has fun with it. But as Cheatcake said - there are guidelines for leveling in the DMG. I know not one group where they level each session. It's more every 2-3 session at the max. If you powergame in PnP D&D and reduce the whole thing to dungeon crawls and a combat game - then I can see how you gain so many levels just going by the XP charts.

I respectfully disagree though - and am very glad that this is not what this server is about. *insert happily jumping about smiley here*

yes..but the ammount i play neverwinter ... i play much more than we have d n d sessions, at this rate im leveling faster having 1 8 hour d and d session a week where I play neverwinter much more than that ... much much more. I dont have a problem with low xp...but when u go to fight monsters and get litteraly none, just bores me. and Im sorry but I try to RP as much as possible, but most of the time the server is rather empty...and theres no plot going...so what am i sposta do, rp with a tree? its times like that when I like to go fight monsters and gain xp.... if i cant do that, whts the point of playing unless theres a large group on rping...there isnt...hense why i just played about 4 hours, rpd a bunch, and then when people log...whats the point of sticking around, there ISNT one. Thats my point, is that I understand xp has to be low, but theres a fine line between making the server system work so u level slowly and the game just being plain boring when theres noone around. If theres only 2 people on server in an rp setting... and those 2 people leave cause theyre bored, players arent gona build up as fast and the game is gona be pointless unless its rush hour and theres 10 or 20 people on.... I normally would stay on all day and play if I had the opprotunity... I was so bored about an hour ago that i logged to play something...anything else, because that was frying my mind.... I might go start a lowbie...but If im gona start a lowbie I might as well do it on another server where my xp isnt gona die after a few levels, because RP wise I really dont want to play several characters, I like mine and want to build his relations. Its kinda hard when theres noone on the server most of the time, and when there is I spend all my time traveling from place to place to half the time have little 2 minute conversations and move on to my xp less hunting that I do when theres noone around... I dno.... Its fun when theres good rp, rest of the time its boring as hell cause the only thing to accomplish is....getting that 10 experiene i just got from playing 5 hours this morning...woo..fun? uh... lol

                Uh... three observations.

                1. Paragraphs are your friends.
                2. If you get really low xp right now, it's because you got too much xp before the current system was put into action. "It's your own fault" might be too harsh, but something close applies.

dont get me wrong i really do like the xp curve, cause ur not sposta gain levels quickly, I just dont like how it was none and now it hits you all at once, because it makes the game if there no RP at the current moment litteraly pointless... i mean.. i can go try and solo gnolls for... 0 or 1 xp.... and possibly die and spend 2 weeks building back the xp i just loss... or sit and town and wait for someone to wander by I can rp with for 2 minutes and then be bored again? eh.. i dno, its just steering me toward only playing during the busy times that theres lots of people on the server to rp with and the rest of the time playing an mmo or something...

I suppose you can ask a DM to take 1 or 2 levels off you so you can go hunt again and get XP. You should be back in "the curve" with that

if we could get some REALY high CR spawns then you could go get xp, i know at lvl 7 (as a drow) i get like 7 xp from the mosclaw bosses. so if you got together liek 6 people and killed CR 16 spawns then you would be actualy getting some decent XP... but untill then if you a high level RP and if you wanna level make a new character.

ima just start playing an mmo during the day when im free and only playing at night when the server is populated enough for people to RP with and a DM to actually be around to run mods. Playing during the day is just.... its like, when u actually find RP , it gets boring after a half hour or so cause theres no storyline to support it. I think of the game as almost like playing a larp, you sit around and RP with people all weekend, but the DMs are constantly running mods so people have situations to continue theyre rp... At least at the times when im on there is rarely if ever mods being ran so its like being at a larp with nothing to do... u can only RP so much before ur kinda like... damn im bored... lol, nothing to rp about... oh well go kill some monsters we get no xp for... yee haw, lol. Still blows my mind I only got like 3 or 4 xp for killing an umberhulk *lol* and that was in a party of 3, and one of our guys died during the encounter.... ek, a bit unbalanced ...
I ended up making a new character... but.... Im not a multiple character kinda person. Just gona have to start playin somethin else on the server offtime pretty much =( sadly... cause most of the other RP servers dont have very good RP.... played on the forgotten realms server.... forget the name of it... for like a week or so.. and the rp was a joke... lol
the real reason im complaining about it is because a week ago playing on this server was a ton of fun to me, and sinse the curve my level of fun is pretty damn low unless theres good rp going on....

Believe it doesnt work like that, some other player rerolled his character and then had curve of 21.000 xp or something to beat.

This is a roleplay server, if it's no longer fun because you can't level as fast as you want to then roleplay might not be your playstyle.

wow seems you didnt really listen to what I had to say, its not about how fast I gain a level its that I -CAN- gain a level, I love that its a roleplay server but last time I checked.. its a game... and Im sorry but a game cant be all roleplay , there has to be a fun factor to the gameplay... alls the xp curve does is makes people create several other low level characters so they can still feel accomplished by getting some sort of level ( and dont tell me it doesnt cause Ive seen a buuuuuuutload of lowbies lately) ... and Im sorry but Im a HUGE rp player, the only reason why I even bought this game, but I find alot more RP satisfaction in playing the same character all the time... and its just not fun to play the same character all the time, cause as soon as theres no RP to participate in the server is boring... I wasnt in any hurry to get to level 7, but now that Im there theres nowhere else to go until my curve gets better, so theres no point in playing the Character unless theres alot of roleplay going on...which for quite a bit of the time there isnt, infact the majority of the time the server doesnt even have nearly 10 people on.... so yah, I guess Im reallly concerned with how fast I level
                              ... sinse...
I said -nothing - of the sort in the 4 or more posts Ive made.... I simply expressed that unless theres roleplay going on your server is pointless to play on if your c is highly effected by the xp curve, and everyone can only shoot out little one liners going omg ur a power gamer ooo, when infact im the total opposite, but rp isnt everything, sinse it doesnt go on when theres only 6 people in the server, and if it does, its very limited, and after... there is nothing to do... which makes the game not fun at that moment, which makes me log, but i guess its a great excuse that every time someone tries to show constructive critisism to the game that everyone just claims theyre a powergamer and discredits what they say...yah, i see people cant take any kind of critisism around here... cause in server, Ive met QUITE a few people who share those sentiments and just arent posting them on the forum... and to say they arent Rpers isnt very... intelligent sinse u have to submit a bio just to join the server.... I have seen noone who doesnt RP to a good degree...but its still a game

                                Yes, it can!

Look, if you could now gain 10 XP per gnoll killed - what would you then do?

From your posts I'd guess that you'd play during your spare time when there is not much going on on the server as usual. You'd rp a bit here and there - and the rest of the time (say, 80%?) you'd be out killing things. That is called grinding. If there is noone on the server for you to rp with, well, then you either have to rp by yourself, convince one of the few players online to rp with you or just do something else for a while.

You can even play on another server during that time. Just... drop the subject now, will you? As I said earlier (I think), noone is really complaining about the system. Noone except you that is... and you are not complaining in a bad way - don't get me wrong here - but the fact that you are complaining does imply... what Saulus just said.

Drop it and have fun here with the system that Sundren Staff has developed and the majority of the player base supports... or find some other way.
