Save for the members of the mossclaw alliance, do other tribes in Viridale who are not part of the alliance wage war with each other? Also, is the forest still viewed as "un-conquered" lands for the government of Sundren?

    Thanks!

Im not terribly familiar with the Forgotton realms, as I played adandd back in the Greyhawk days. I mostly know it through BG1 and 2 and NWN 1 and 2. When did the events of Irenicus etc happen in relation to the current Sundren Timeline? Or the King of Shadows for that matter?

That would be a while after the Time of Troubles, the Time of Troubles itself being in 1358 DR. It's 1372 DR right now, Midsummer to be exact.

monks and barbarians, they would seem to pose a problem.
I don't play fr at all. Im an old greyhawker or custom setting guy.
I don't know where monks or barbarians would come from. As far as i know monks are from asian themed areas or schools from the main part of the world?
barbarian tribes all all over the place i suppose but i don't know who to choose if i pick a barbarian to play

We had a debate on the NWN2 forums from Obisidian about monks in FR setting. They aren't Asian, they just follow some philosophies that are similar to asian philosophies. The could, by that right, spring up wherever.

Well, technically there doesn't need to be a school to have a monk. The reason monks even invented "Kung-fu" was to stay in shape while they were in in the monestaries. Wushu, which is the actual fighting part of it, came later.

The idea is promotion of wellness of body and wellness of spirit in order to control "chi" which I believe means "Air". Hence why breathing and stuff is a part of it. If you apply this concept to a fantasy setting, chi could take on a more literal sense, and monks are just people who make their bodies a temple for that chi. You don't really "require" a school to do that.

                Edit:

I've been of the opinion alot of monks would probably worship a god that worked well with the concepts of wellness. This is why monks are Lawful, because of the discipline it takes to promote the wellness. A chaotic diety would probably have no "monks".

FR Monks would belong to orders, which is where they received their training; there are many well known ones in FR, but I am by no means an expert on them. Some of the more well known ones you can see on the magical items that bear their name.

                      Sundren situation

I managed to borrow some books from an old friend regarding FR lore and was reading The Savage Frontier (detailing lands north of Waterdeep) when I came across some places not on some maps but major nonetheless.

Ironmaster: Home of 9200 dwarves, an isolated stone-towered city of dwarves. Non-dwarves not welcome. Transports all of its merchandise to Fireshear where it is sold to others. Mentioned with Citadel Adbar as one of the two dwarven capitals in the north.

Fireshear: Home to 15.000 (7900 dwarves) miners, an important mining city far up north.

So my question really is whether Sundren envelopes these cities or not? I found a map where they are depicted. Dwarven figures are out of the book "Dwarves Deep" ADnD 2nd Ed. Also if these cities are in existance still in Sundren lore, this I imagine could explain a large influx of dwarven people in Sundren.... so make some dwarves you people!

These are old resources, I don't even think those places exist anymore.

                          Some questions

One: During the advent time (1213-1215) Mundus created something along the border of Viridale, to keep the gnolls at bay, was this a barrier of sorts, or was it a bluff, to scare them away?

Two: In 1371, Kurz's Cartel comes to Sundren, his hideout being in the northern parts of Viridale, is there any plans for him? Will there be bandits in the forest as well?

Three: Seeing as we're living south of Icewind dale, the people of Sundren would be thoroughly deaf if they haven't heard about Drizzt, Bruenor, Catti Brie, Regis and Wulfgar. They're the heroes of the entire nation, and such, they're well respected. This should, in a way, also affect how people treat the goodly aligned drow of sundren?

                            1) A bluff. However, the current Sundarian armed forces keep them walled in just as well.

                            2) I believe their hideout will be a future dungeon.

                            3) Indeed. I imagine that is at least partly why drow are more tolerated in Sundren.
