Players should just be allowed to take any class they like, exept for typical PG combinations we all know.

Wish i could play my Bard/FS.. but, had to settle for Bard/Cleric, though that wasnt in the character's background at all.

I agree with Kald, Darky and Mae, but I think ticla is taking a bit too far.
Too many favoured souls would just be... odd.
However, I do think Saulus should allow drow on the server (moderated), though maybe that's being saved for later when they've made the underdark/underdark entrance area.

Players are allowed to take any class they want. Some classes require an application, but they are still available (as you will see on the statistics page)

I think he's talking about the currently closed classes, I think it was Favoured and Warlock.

I think it is good there are certain rules and that access to certain classes/races are restricted in some way There are already enough lightballs running around and i really don't want to bump into a Genasi at every second corner. But i'd like to see the Neverwinter Night Nine as playable class, perhaps after some IC event if people really consider to be somethign special.

As mentioned previously we have no plans to ever allow Neverwinter Nine. This is Sundren, not neverwinter.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

There's a problem with having too many drow running around: Alot of PC's killed or jailed because of their race. Why? Because whether or not it's true, drow generally = evil. People will shoot first, ask questions later.

Write a background > submit application > wait > get a approval > clap excitedly > go in game and look around > get apprehended by the Sundren authorities and lose your character.

                  A lot of complaints.

There are simply not too many drow just chillin at campfires on the surface, and it would seem very odd to see more than one or two. Not to mention it's extremely difficult, in my opinion, to play a drow character correctly.

                  My two cents.

In terms of Drow... people would likely attack them on sight, or flee in fear, unless there's some very good reason not to. As a PC, that's a bit awkward... I know people don't always treat them like they would do a troll or an ogre (ie; oh ****, kill it!), but often (though by no means always) the reason for this is metagaming (knowing it's a DM, or not wanting to mess with someone's PC). Personally, all my PCs treat Drow as Kill On Sight (after a bit of RP) irrespectrive of this. Given what Drow are like in Faerun; the fact that they view all other races as inferior 'slave' races, the fact that they generally worship a giant spider-demon, and so forth, this is pretty much what's going to happen...

If all the classes become available to anyone without being closed, how many people would just powerbuild and be making the ones closed already.
As Machiavelli said, many classes/races can be KOS, but if we just let anyone be any race/class, then Sundren would end up with normal PC's with normal races/classes that we have now, all become very fustrated as 10 Drow Harpers jump them in the middle of the city.

This is exactly what will happen if ECL Races and powerbuilding classes all become open without applications - and even if they become open with applications, the help request forum will just be more flooded then it already is.

Though I understand the apperhension on Drow, being an evil race, I dont understand why drows get checked on every move they make, (player wise) and other badly rp'ed races dont get the same treatment.

If it's a world where there's alot of evil around allready. like Red Wizzies and friends, The Odd Drow would be less of a fear factor than if he would appear in downtown Neverwinter. It all depends on the setting. But I prefer a Drow Starting city/dwelling. Just to avoid that drow players get forced to drizzt around on the surface

Things in moderation, my only fear on that is that it singles out certain timezone players, and may (or may not) create Private clubs which are hard to penetrate as a new player.

It's Faerun, so the broader lore here is generally consistent with the Forgotten Relams setting; in which, a Drow in the middle of the city buying fruit will cause problems with the locals. There's a stigma with the them based on their history, views and previous and present associations with the surface world.

Even half-drow can have a hard time of it.

The Red Wizards are slightly different because they are an organization not a race, and a powerful one with alot of influence at that. Nonetheless, in Sundren, there have been strong opponents to the Red Wizards and even an attack on the Enclave. An entire faction can absorb that sort of treatment to a degree, but not a few players.

A separate place for Drow to start is going to create private clubs, and one that's impossible to penetrate based on race differences. Furthermore, of the one of four or six other Drow players aren't on, what's the one other Drow going to do if he can't go to the surface and interact with other players? There are already alot of different factions at work, creating a Horde / Alliance type of atmosphere with the Drow and the surface world is simply going to derail everything in my opinion. And it all seems like a lot of work and woe to put in for a few people to be able to play a race.

We had Drow before. I DM'd them. People in PWs aren't ready for them. People don't want lasting evil, they want something they can squash and move on. Some people enjoyed the conflict and planning and understanding, others would attack the Drow, lose, then come on the forums and complain... and complain LOUDLY. Then people complained they got too much attention. Then we let a few Drow in after reform of the server and warned them they'd likely die and there'd be no Drow community or DM support for a Drow group. Those PCs posted on help forum they were killed too much and wanted DM support, etc, and buffs to levels. So essentially, when people can accept that they very well might lose in a PVP match at any time, there will not be Drow PCs.

I find it ridiculous that someone that wanted to play drow would not be prepared for all out war? How many threads have we had about Drow and what would happen if you were a drow and you entered the city?

I know that all my characters but one would probably attack, after some rp, a drow character because they all have high lore skills and know a bit about the history of Faerun and thus drow. They are mostly evil and would rather kill me than talk to me or enslave me...........so, I kill them first.

So, I agree, there shouldn't be any Drow characters unless you are prepared to die quickly and often.

Quite a lot actually would be surprised. I dont think Sundren is ready for them to come back and thats from someone who has an application in for one.
