That's how I've been trying to play it. Thanks for clarifying that.Originally posted by Rhifox View PostArcane Scholar is not so much a cultural class (like Red Wizards), but more the idea of studying magic from an academic perspective. Arcane Scholars, of course, would promote widespread teaching of magic and it would spread throughout the realms, most likely (evidenced by the bonus to spell saves that group members of an Arcane Scholar get. That's them teaching others). Candle Keep would be the center of the education, but that doesn't mean that there aren't individual Arcane Scholars promoting it who are out in the world teaching other Scholars that have never set foot in Candle Keep.Sammael Redstone - Country-raised sorceror, knows his drink

Considering that the Neverwinter Nine are among the nine most powerful individuals in all of Faerun, I can understand why they aren't.Originally posted by Handsomeman View Postcorrect me if im wrong, but i don't think neverwinter nine class is available in this server
It would also limit the number of Neverwinter Nine on the server to...uh...nine. Limiting classes to a hard, fixed number for "story" reasons has a lot of problems on MMRPGs, (limiting anything, actually). I was a DM for a MUD...and that was a *huge* problem. Lets just say that *everyone* wants to be a Jedi. Someone on the power level of a NWN9 , in a non multiplayer environment, is fine, or even restricted to a small environment (PnP group of 5-7 people) , but in a heavily multiplayer environment there will be problems...its not just the power of the characters abilities itself, but the "story" implications that go along with it. Neverwinter is a very powerful city...it is certainly the largest (right? or are there ones in other Planes/Underdark that are larger?)
It's not *that* great of a PRC anyway. I also hear that there are Sundren-custom PRCs coming sometime in the future , that are "mindblowing"? Soon you might be able to level in Hand of Mundus or Red Knight Adept

Isn't Dungeons & Dragons about using your imagination, and not being limited by just what you see?
Also, the Neverwinter Nine [the actual group, not the class] being nine of the most powerful individuals in Faerun? Not likely. They're really just bodyguards, generals, advisors and special forces to Nasher. There are many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many more powerful people out there.

From my oodles of Forgotten Realm's knowledge (the NWN2 Loading screenNeverwinter is a very powerful city...it is certainly the largest (right? or are there ones in other Planes/Underdark that are larger?)
) it is "dwarfed by the city of splendours, Waterdeep". But is probably one of the largest.
So you could RP something like Nasher has sent you to investigate Sundren on account of hostile action from the area or lack of trade or some such. They're really just bodyguards, generals, advisors and special forces to Nasher.Jasareth Kalisurr *stares at you blankly and slowly raises a brow*

Already have a HArper on the server, thanks.
Not sure if I was the first, but I know I am one of them if not. When I saw a PW that was original but actually a part of Faerun I almost peed myself at the chance to play a Harper. Valraein was actually raised by the Harpers after they were forced to kill his evil father (long story, rp to learn the real truth). He was sent to sunderen to find out how much good the HArpers could do there, send back reports and try to get a foothold for the organization.
So if anyone else is or plans to become a HArper you should totally get with me and we can get something really cool started.Valraein Alonar - Just a bard! I swear!

Harpers are one of the most secretive organisations in Faerun, my advice is to not let on that your char is one- the info will get metagamed, despite folks good intentions at keeping things IC.Originally posted by honktraphonic View PostAlready have a HArper on the server, thanks.

A Banite would kill a suspected Harper without question, as would a member of the Cult of the Dragon and possibly the Red Wizards. Divulging your a Harper to a non-Harper is tantamount to placing a death warrant on your head, and in the right (or wrong maybe) circumstances could actually mark you as a traitor to the organisation- something the Harpers themselves deal with one way only, death.
Honktraphonic, dont assume your char is the first Harper in Sundren and their only contact here. A Harper does not need to be a Harper Agent class to be part of the organisation."Im a hero hunter, I hunt heroes... I havn't found any yet"

I do indeed know these things. and as far as anyone knows i'm just a bard. To my knowledge i have yet to even hint to anyone that my character is a HArper. I have a great love for the Harpers and am familiar with their style of operation.Originally posted by Aux View PostHarpers are one of the most secretive organisations in Faerun, my advice is to not let on that your char is one- the info will get metagamed, despite folks good intentions at keeping things IC.

And yes i am well aware of the heavy presence of Baneites and the Red Wizards... all the more reason for the HArpers to be interested

I have to wonder why Neverwinter Nine is restricted aside from the obvious name implications. Can't the name just be ignored (like everyone ignored Champion of "Torm" in NWN 1) and used in some other fashion? I always looked at most classes as being more than their name. I never think of a character as a rogue/fighter but maybe they're a ninja or a thief or a mercenary or whatever. A name isn't everything.
What if it was called "Knight of Nobility" or something? Then that would open up the class to anyone who was knighted by local Sundren nobility here, and it fits the theme of the class well too.
Of course that might not work if there is no feudal system in place and if the DMs still don't want to bother with it. But even still, I'm sure there's some other way the class could be used, since it is an interesting class.

My thoughts on this issue exactly.Originally posted by Dark presence View PostI have to wonder why Neverwinter Nine is restricted aside from the obvious name implications. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."
