Standard armor and mage armor stack. Item Magic AC (+1 AC bonus etc) and Mage Armor don't.-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

true this is nwn2 but in the power build world i was on hand axe was the preferd weapons of everyoneOriginally posted by Rhifox View PostPshaw. Fear my hand axe.
Of course, I have 1 level of rogue, but still. Weapon Finesse, high dex, and Magic Weapon make a melee weapon better than a ranged weapon, and the low level buffs you get can give you very good protection. I actually often watch myself dodge more attacks than most pure fighters at my level (24 AC, 10% concealment, 1d4 ~15-ish AC mirror images, and so on), and am almost completely immune to arrows which Sundren NPCs use to extreme deadliness against most people. Problem is my attacks always miss or do little damage, so it takes me ages to kill a single mob even if they never touch me, and my HP is horrible, as I have only 10 constitution. I can be slowly winning a fight and have full health and suddenly BAM one/two crits and it's all over.
And getting KOed is almost certainly a death, as I need to roll 18 or higher to stabilize. <.<Vrog half-orc warrior

Really? I use Hand Axe because it looks awesome, swords are boring... Vikings rule. Didn't know it was a preferred power build weapon. xP-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

No, thats what was taken out, atleast i think it was. It was one of the updates, mage armor now gives like +1 natural +1 Deflection +1 Armor And something else, so people couldnt run around using UMD and having mage armor stacked with full plate.

Well my character sheet is showing them stacking and there seems to be a difference between having it on and not having it on. I also don't see how making it 4 different types of armor would cause it to not stack, as non-magical armor sources are still non-magical and have no stacking issues with anything no matter what it's trying to stack with, as far as I'm aware (not that I know anything of coding, so I could be completely wrong here)-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

Well thanks Rhifox for that thorough explanation, I make mental note to go learn Cat's Grace as soon as possible.
Otherwise we're not aiming for the same classes at all, so I'd be hard pressed to make my gnome better in other ways.

Main thing is the right buffs. Mage Armor, False Life, Protection from Arrows when against enemies with many archers, Extended Mirror Image, Extended Cat's Grace, and Extended Ghostly Visage. If you've got the spell slot to spare for it, Spiderskin as well. I'd recommend only buffs that can last you a long time atm, which means only 1 Hour Per Level ones and Extended 60 Second Per Levels. Non-extended 60 Second Per Level and Extended or Non-Extended 6 Second Per Level are simply too short, especially on a server where we walk everywhere.-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

The funny thing is that the ranger I have uses Clubs, maces, rapiers, shortswords, daggers, longbows, throwing darts, throwing axes, hand axes, longswords, etc. etc.
I don't use the scythe--I think it is just silly to see a WM of a scythe...I mean, come on >>Characters:
Tiberias Laylonar: Ranger of the Viridale, Woodsman of the Cormanthor, Stalker of Sundren, Hunter of Illusk, Strider of the Wood, Tracker of many means, and Rugged womanizer--on a short chain.
K'narth: The True-Neutral Barbarian of Helm. All body, no brains...or does he? "K'narth bes Helmet!" "Farewell byes!" Guess not.
Johnathan Dalrun: Holy Knight of Kelemvor, Good looking womanizer, and sarcastic meatshield--now lying in the Necropolis, dead as a doornail.

Well, that was in nwn1 reason being, light weight, has really good crit mult and with keen stacking with the crit drop from imprvoed crit and takin wm crit drop (nwn1) hand axe would be nasty nasty weapon espicaly on builds that were common there like i had said the old bard/wm/rdd 23 bard/7wm/10rdd (duel weild handaxes)= pwn.Originally posted by Rhifox View PostReally? Yeah one of the carziest powerbuilds with huge damage was a Paladin/Dvinie Champion/Weaponmaster. with a high lvl ind paladin and Divine Champ, plus high charisma, plus greater smiting. then you added, divine wrath, divine might, divie favor and more damage enhancing feats or spells, so the guy could like do 400 damage with a normal smite and if that smite was critical..... just calculate. 400 x 5 from Scythe.... one crit and a dragon goes puff
NWN2 allthough seems to be much more friendly for not being able to make this kind of characters anymore, crit range decreased and 6 sec time period between stealth and so on.
With the Armor thing stacking. Only thing that stacks with armor enhancements is the dodge modifier, so if you have Armor+1, ring of deflection+1, shield +1, dodge boots +1 and Natural AC amulet or so +1 and you cast mage armor, you will only get in total one extra AC since it only stacks with the dodge +1. hope that helps. So if you can cast mage armor, you don't need any defensive item +1 except for dodge +1 modifiers.Mirsli Skindar
