  • Team Good

As we all know the force runs strong within Team Evil. You guys are great and all and I’m sorely tempted to join, but at the same time just joining the winning team has never been my thing...

I’m considering making a good character and actively work to rally some of the good PCs. It would be nice if Team Good got back on its feet (or at least out of the gutter.) Anyone interested in making or dusting off a lowbie and levelling together? (Maybe even get some DM action? *wink wink nudge nudge*)

I already play a few Good characters, the problem is that because they are factionless (mostly +0 enchanted gear), and not powerful builds it would take about 3 of them to take on 1 team Evil player

Also, team Evil (essentially) have only 1 faction, which makes coordinating their efforts a bit easier. Good players are spread over like 5 factions, so they often aren't on the same page. If the Emperor goes "Alright, we're going to attack Sestra!", then it's unlikely he's going to consult the Tuatha, Northern Watch or Whurest first. Which means about 1/4 of the Good players at most would get in on the action.

Obviously my view is very one-sided as I've never played Evil....I'm sure the Black Hand would argue the reverse ><

Tyranus is Team good's leader. If you ever need a ally, hes the friend to pay and or bribe with treasure. (That's what being good is all about right?) :^)

On a side note im down with making a hand of mundus buffer for the group if someone wants to make some legionaries for me to buff.

Yeah I don't really have much of a plan, I thought I might be able to use my insane online time to help chat some people together. I'm still in a considering stage, though. Depends on how well this character agrees with me and how the response is in game. One of my other characters is working its way up as my main and I don't really want to replace it

You just need to expand your range of characters. So far all you have is Grumpy, Happy and Bashful. Remember there are 4 other Dwarves... *cough* I mean character archetypes!

Snowmane casts Wall of Text, Will save versus sleep please ...

Joking aside, I would add that I believe it is incorrect to say that team evil is "winning". It's more correct to say that thanks to the efforts of a few of their members they are more consistent and cohesive. I created Ra'd to play with them simply because I know I will find them online and ready to RP.

Personally, I prefer heroic, good characters. But I'd rather RP evil than sit around waiting for someone good to log in for the same purpose. I also prefer my RP to be adventure related. Sitting around in the inn describing how foamy the ale is ok from time to time, but I want to get out and do things that make me feel like an adventurer.

LuxA, you seem to spend more time online than anyone else, so you are probably the best candidate to create a central good character that could pull a "team good" together. I'd even be interested in joining it. But I think it would need to be a dedicated group of players with characters that have a similar purpose. Of course their personalities would cause internal conflict, but in the end they would be dedicated to the same goal making it so that those conflicts should be spice in the group instead of being divisive.

So I'd suggest this: we forget about factions (I believe the server wants to move away from that anyway) and, more importantly, we forget about trying to take on team evil for the moment (They are off doing their own thing anyway) We'd instead create a team that does good without directly opposing team evil (since we simply won't have the power) and center ourselves in Avanthyr and make that our home city.

I believe there are a few things we need to do to get this started:
              1. This will require a lot of DM intervention - so the first step is to find a DM who would be willing to run events for this team and act as our "faction store" through event rewards. (we can also leverage James Frazer, since he'll craft for anyone)
              2. Consistency - we need to set a consistent time when we can find each other online. I think this is the most important (and most difficult) thing to achieve. If we could have at least one scheduled play time per week (probably the weekend to account for time zones), it will go a long way towards building team cohesion.
              3. Once we have a DM interested and a time slot for the group to get together, we need to develop a concept for our "team good" group. Why are the individual characters in Sundren? What is their nigh unattainable goal (after all you don't actually want to attain the goal anytime soon, since it's the motivation for the group).
              4. Once the group concept is down, we can begin developing our new characters around that concept
              5. And we'd probably need to agree on some sort of self imposed-leveling cap to keep the group together as we go (level disparity is one of the hardest things to deal with in my opinion).

So LuxA, Thaelis, Gamestarmike (or anyone else who might be interested) - if you are willing to set aside your current characters and embark on this idea, I'd be willing to join you. A four man team seems a decent number to get things going. If you are interested, reply here and I can set up a social group for us to plan our way forward.

I've recently returned and brought at least 1 friend (hopefully 2). The characters we've rolled so far would fit in well with team good. So, you can count us in.
Sain- Immunes Legionaire and Ex-Adept of the now decimated Red Blades
Dane Kensbane- Farmboy struggling to adjust to his new life as a favored of Illmater
Peeli Pebblepounder- Beardless dwarven scout and woodsman
Alexi Starsunder- Extremely young and headstrong elven rogue searching for his adopted dwarven uncle.
Siriandel Starsunder- Grizzled Elven ranger, and estranged uncle of Alexi

It's about time! Although just so you know it has not always been this way. There was a time when team good had all the power, but through very careful, long plotted plans, and a rotating player base; the BH has systematically been dismantling whatever form their opponents plans take shape in. That and no one on the opposing side is patient, they just assume one little event will be the end of the BH.

                    My advice to you is:
Plan, plan, and plan some more
Anticipate what moves the BH will make, have counter measures in place.
Prepare to fail, not all plots are going to be successful.
Be committed to the cause, no matter.
Be prepared, because if your actions are enough to spark the BH into action, I assure you we will.
                    Have fun!

Jhickey has the right of it.

Also remember that it tends to be a cyclic thing, and the bad guys are in high swing right now. Don't let it discourage you! It makes the RP more fun.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

We'd have to discuss how to handle this as a group. I'd suggest that if your character starts to pull away too far due to the exp ticker, you could always switch to another - you rotate like crazy already anyway Then if someone comes online that you would like to interact with your character - send some tells and switch back. Or maybe we just accept that your character will always be somewhat higher level than us requiring that sometimes you take a more passive role in our group RP sessions so we can catch up through combat exp. As we all reach the low to mid teens this should become less problematic (and moot once we hit 20).

Once again, we'd have to decide that as a group. I would also have some lose ends to tie up and it would probably take us a week or two (or more) to get things rolling on this new group of characters. But I think we should commit to developing these characters and their storylines as our primary characters. It would also make it easier for the DMs to support a group of people rather than trying to support individual characters.

We seem to be getting a reasonable amount of interest. I'll go ahead and create that social group and invite the interested folk.

Always satisfying to be addressed as the professional supporting character James was designed to be

While I've not the commitment to develop a character to participate in the group directly, I can certainly support the concept. James is most willing to sponsor adventuring groups, if queried; and the Exigo Corporation probably has the most numerous viable issues out of the various factions: between the goblins, mutants, lizards, bandits, and barbarians (among other issues), I'm sure gainful employment can be provided if DM support is insufficient. Its not like I'm lacking for potential quest rewards to hand out.

I look forwards to seeing how this initiative progresses.

                            Cheers,

My main would be interested in something of the sort. Though at the moment, he is mostly concerned with advancing his Wizardry. May have that mostly sorted out for awhile however.

If Eli's around, he would be inclined to investigate rumors of adventurers needed in Avanthyr, if that is going to be the base of operations anyways, or anywhere else there are rumors. He's an adventurer at heart.

Nonetheless, you can count my novice spellsword in.

Anytime, for the most part, on the weekends could work for me. EST here also btw.
