I like to play dress-up as well as the next man (ahem), but like stated by others, it should not be too easy. Earning things the hard way, is to me a point of quality of Sundren

The thing is the vast majority of useful items cannot be customised in appearance, no matter how hard you're willing to work. i.e. faction items.Originally posted by Farmboy2003 View PostI like to play dress-up as well as the next man (ahem), but like stated by others, it should not be too easy. Taking myself as an example, none of the Wizard staves are customiseable in appearance, so you have to trade off between using an ordinary wooden stick, or something that looks stupid. Likewise for wizard robes, there are no (decent) craftable ones, and even if there were you can't make it look like clothing/noble outfit/wizard's garb, only like silly robes.
If there was more variety to the crafting system, and you could (with a ton of work) create custom appearance items on par with faction gear then yes, what you're saying would be absolutely true.UTC+8

I like not looking like a clown half the time with mismatched items. Being able to craft appearances should be easier than crafting stats on an item. (I just wan't to have a basic, no stat dress that doesn't look dumb and matches with my shoes.)
The only thing I don't like about this server is the constant overhang of PvP. Yay look, a bunch of level 20's killed my level 10 again. Time to sit in Fugue for three to four days or risk losing my stuff! But wait, you get the courtesy Bad Timing PM! I guess that just wipes away the guilt of killing someone who wasn't a challenge at all.
I really hate PvP, even if I understand it's a "necessity" of the server there should be a common ground of respect and consideration for the opposing party. I'd rather RP something out than sit there and wait for you to Mechanically kill my character who isn't fighting back where you could just RP kill her, get it over with, walk away and avoid the Fugue entirely. Because I love nothing more than not playing on the server for a few days, only to log on. Barely escape a dungeon I had to leave in due to Real Life Priorities, then get killed when escaping death only to have to wait longer to even go and have the choice to sit at the Second Wind.

I really dislike seeing this sort of post. I know that PvP is going to happen, and consent is not needed, but as the last post states: There are other ways to handle it. In a situation like this players should really hash it out OOC first, or at the very least use the handy subdual tool.
I am not against PvP, but I think players could show a little more courtesy to their fellows sometimes. Just think about it."Now I know the full power of evil. It makes ugliness seem beautiful and goodness seem ugly and weak." -The Dance of Death

I'm just going to point out, this goes for both sides of good and evil, when it comes to needing consideration.

Yes if PvP becomes unfun for people, they will not likely be around to PvP with in the future, so that's not something we want.
Having said this if people see patterns of this forming do not hesitate to bring it to the DMs attention so we can address the issue.
Now the flipside is also being able to roll with the punches, and sometimes players have an over-reactionary attitude to legitimate PvP, please do not think I am saying that is the case to the post above, but I'd like to balance my statement because sometimes people push back too much on PvP.The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I can understand the sentiment here, but it actually is pretty simple to make mundane clothing on the server(its only a DC 5 check), particularly now since dyes are no longer costly time consuming affairs of finding enough logs, leaves, and random fruits to take to a decent alchemist.Originally posted by Shadechild View PostI like not looking like a clown half the time with mismatched items. In relevance as to why the system is as it is, The are only so many ways one expects to customize a +3 sword, for example: is either +3, or it isn't. Conversely, the number of appearances that could theoretically be used to customize a mundane item are nigh infinite. The enchanting is primarily a question of power, and (IMHO) the tailoring a question of finesse and dedication, but as with most things: Anyone can learn.
And sitting in a tailoring shop for hours on end is a great way to avoid PvP while contributing to the server. Just sayin.

HEY! I've had no clients murdered on my crafting premises and only one that I know of being cut down by another client while leaving! The statistics speak for themselves, perfectly safe.Originally posted by thaelis View PostUnless the tailor shop is really a front for a coven of vampire's innocuously concealed in the very heart of the Sundarian Empire.

Ehh, I am definitely enjoying my time on Sundren, but I will probably be needing to leave the server, or at least retire my paladin and evil character.
I despise pvp, and it's basically unavoidable. Win or lose, I don't have fun with pvp. Maybe I'll give it a go with a character who just doesn't care and therefore can avoid such things, but there's already a lot of those characters XD.
Edit: I am not claiming the pvp is not legitimate. I just hate pvp, and I fully acknowledge this fact.
