I'm sorry, this is completely off topic... or is it?...

But this was the banner add when i read Bedlam's comment... I lol'd...

Anyway, I agree with Bedlam, to an extent but I think what would be better is if there was some time between each vampness... I've heard of like three people getting vamped in the past week which seems a bit much when it's supposed to be a "special" and "rare" thing.
      My to-be toon:
      Shafiq Al-Mawt: Zakharan myrkulite.

      My tomb of old toons:
Cruven Schlachten - Blood Reaver of Garagos, Blackwood Company Elite, Hellstrom Head of Security
Marcus Waynard- Horned Harbinger, fear his best bud Frank!... and Jim, Bob, Sue, and Jane...
Davlamin Frostfoot - Frosty Snowflake, the Frozen Fist of Auril, sworn enemy of the Second Wind fire pit.

No one says you can't perm a vampire. It's player inaction that is the result of the numbers growing higher, the herd hasn't been thinned.

If people wanted them gone, they could organize it.

Still cracks me up people think one spell change and two or three more vampires later and they are powerless and should just make clerics...
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

No one's even talking about power, however, Saulus. Literally. Asura never brought up them being overpowered. MadSeer didn't. I didn't. Bedlam didn't.

This has nothing to do with power. With your reasoning, you might as well open all ECL races, and let people be whatever they like. And then you can claim, "No one says you can't perm them."

It's sincerely irrelevant to the concerns being brought up.

Technically, if you want to win, you should always make a cleric.

Just going to say this in response to the general tone of some the posts I've been reading today.

It's fine to disagree with the staff. If you've got concerns, please bring them to our attention, however do so respectfully and with less emotion please. No-one likes to get hostile criticism, especially when they're providing services for free and donating their time and effort for your enjoyment.

Let's all remind ourselves that this is a game, and we play games for fun.

If you're hating on vampires, run by Juney sometime and she'll run through her collection of vampire jokes. Then you'll have something new to hate. x

If it's any consolation, I happen to know the newest vampire wave is most certainly not your previous experience with melee clerics.
The ones with ashen skin and super stats, that is.

Enjoy smiting non magically protected and enhanced vampires.

That little tidbit to encourage everyone to continue the good fight said..
I don't think 'getting used to vampires' is a player list problem.
It's the waves of NPC Vampires and thralls we've all had thrown at us, that make it less dramatic.

Playing a level 15 Paladin when a wave of NPC thralls strikes?
                  Average day at work.

Bumping into Feigan, Clive and Hadavi at the crossroads when you're a level 7 Kelemvorite?
                  Priceless.
"Sir, we're surrounded!" "Excellent! Now we can attack in any direction."

This makes me wish Maia had a much wider ranger spell repertoire. There are some pretty great spells have have cropped up in places like the Spell Compendium that are great to running down quarry to their lairs. Daytime? Go stake 'em!

Ideally. I think some people are passive simply because they don't know where to start, or think some things just aren't possible. However, I've learned that assumptions are bad on Persistent Worlds.

                    sure, high DC Implosion spells sound scary, but that's only when it comes down to a fight... I know fighting isn't the only thing Maia can do. In fact, maybe Maia should try to track one down to its lair - she's so great at tracking she can determine your boot brand and sexual orientation just from a glance at your footprints! Though, the last time she did that with drow elves, she ended up in a big heap of trouble. Ngh. ~_~;

As a recently turned level 9 wizard vampire, I can safely say it's not so great. Every time I try to move around someone detects and slays me. It seems like a pretty big curse to me.

Yup, those high level paladins tend to do very well in whomping the vamps around here.

This was said in the original thread by PL.. So unless this has changed it is supposed to be only given to those who prove themselves ICly.

A level of restraint and responsibility needs to be set down for all vampire PC's. Picking on new low level characters needs to stop. Its that kind of thing that can seriously discourage players from returning to the server.

Bah if you are a low level pc you should know you are no match for a vampire and be running high tail to find the nearest paladin. Thats what I do

Usually they are only a zone away talking with one of the other vampires anyway :P

I used to stand around waiting for vampires as my paladin, but then they apparently stopped logging those chars as I did not see them for a long, long time. So long, in fact, that I got bored and stopped playing.

Hurp durp, not sure what that proves. Probably nothing. Goooooooo vampires!
