Sounds like you have ideas in common with what was intended with the system in place. Feel free to speak your mind, this is the topic for it.

If I was crafting a single item that would put me out of comission for a month, you should expect the price to be high.

I know that a sword I had crafted and enchanted when the old crafting system was in cost me over 20k . There wasn't a fatigue penalty then and crafting was very basic. So I would expect it to cost more for items now.

Falmari my awesome druid just had an amulet made for him that would have cost him 20k+ before but he only payed 2k for it.

Fair enough I had the kit and could have cast the spell but I lacked the feat to make it. Needless to say im happy! Things that most 11+ characters would have are relatively cheap as long as you have the materials

I agree that this is something has made the crafting system better than it was... although "cheap" may be an understatement. I think it is more "reasonable" and "price negotiable" Since, if you have all the materials gathered or purchased, you can find someone that charges the best price for their assistance.

That said, it would behoove crafters to keep the required needs of crafting secret! so as not to loose "their" customers... also it IS meta gaming to claim knowledge of needed materials if your character has not seen the recipe nor has been told about it.

Further more it is my opinion, that asking one crafter what they would need to make an item and then gathering the items and turning around and going to another crafter to make if for less money... well that is just plain bad form. Perhaps crafters need to charge for consultaion as well!!!!

I can't really comment on thief's post cuz I dont know what you are saying...
was it the old system your item would have cost 20k and with the new system you got it for 2k??? If this is the case i hope someone was "doin you a solid" for that sort of anti-inflation could destroy and economy.
