I understand that, but this rogue was just an example. I understand that it is hard to do in a NWN PW since there would be some people that would abuse this feature, even if by doing so, they don't respect RP, they are just powergaming, and exploiting the features of the module.

But something I believe would be possible for our stealthy friends would be just to inform DMs in advance and do quest-like events in a RP way. This type of event demands a bit of time for DMs, but as a devoted player, it is always fun to see that people care about you, being part of this family which is a PW, and will take some time with you to do special adventures.

As for the single player skills and charisma based skills, I don't know where in my post you saw me talking about them but, I didn't, simply because I know it's pretty hard to do in multiplayer, if not impossible.

I cited charisma based skills because they are another example of near-impossible to implement game mechanics.

It is our foremost hope that we can accomodate players in any way that we can. All future dungeon masters willl be expected to actively entertain those who frequent the servers and even introduce new players to the setting through small scale interaction.

To help Role Play, is it possible that every character has a tool that can describe how does the other characters look?

That could be great, and will surely help Role Play, i think.

There is ! you right click and hold on the object then select "examine", it usually says something extra about the object.

What I like about the campaign the most is meeting characters that I will fight later. I like to get to know the enemy and observe them a bit before fighting them. A cutscene with the enemy before a fight with them is intersting. On the same note I like knowing about weapons and people. As in descriptions of weapons and the ability to ask people in the game about others. Maybe having that as a question category (subcategories being a list of people they could tell you about). I like that Lore feeling...being able to ask others about people that may be towns away, or buildings away and them actually being able to give me some information (be it useful or not) about the person.

As for gameplay in general...it differs...I like having a bunch of people to fight sometimes rather than maybe 1 or 2 (boss/miniboss) difficult guys and maybe a few guards (although I enjoy these fights as well). It is a different challenge when you are outnumbered or heavily outnumbered.

And story wise I like it to be down to earth. Alot of the time in NWN I feel as if the answers that I can give are either too lawful/good or too chaotic/evil to answer how I want.

And finally I like to be challenged differently from time to time. You could say puzzles but maybe something in the game that you could figure out and go get or go kill or go learn about (sorry alot of go's there). You could figure this out by talking to many different people, asking the right people the right questions, something that has nothing to do with the main story or a side quest...just a little bit of fun you could put in for the ones who ended up finding it. I like suprises...things that make me go wow, that's really cool. Sometimes to get this feeling I like to find where things are myself...Alot of the time it is too easy to sort through quests by just using your Journal where it tells you exactly what to do. It is good because it saves time but I think some quests...you should have to figure them out on your own.

I myself really enjoy getting to know my enemy before putting them to the sword but unfortunately this is one of those things which does not translate well into persistent worlds. You can expect to see some reoccuring enemy characters in dungeon master events but nothing as far as built-in quests will have reoccuring 'faces.' There will however be organizations that will come up time and time again..

"And story wise I like it to be down to earth. Alot of the time in NWN I feel as if the answers that I can give are either too lawful/good or too chaotic/evil to answer how I want."

This is again due to development reasons. Creating routes for evil characters to pursue is in actuality, double the work. It's not as simple as just adding a few more text strings. I previously toyed with the idea of allowiong characters to choose which 'side' of Sundren they'd like to be on but to be honest, then we'd have to make it so that Sundren NPCS were killable, Sundren itself was a dungeon, other locations were dungeons... it would just be one huge mess. Players will however be able to with the permission of administrators change their faction ratings but if they do they will be losing access to the servers 'end game' in exchange because storyline wise, it simply won't accomodate them.

If possible I would like to avoid the use of items that allow for extra features. One example of this is how many PWs in NWN used items that allowed one to follow another player or see a more in depth server list. If it is possible to avoid those items that would be best in my opinion.

This is an nteresting question as the answer to this can make or break a PW.

I personally enjoy political strife perferably between players. It is far more rewarding to role play out a politcal argument between two characters tehn it is between myself and a npc.

I prefer lower magic servers myself less magic items so people ahve a reason to take feats and skills such as craft armor and create wonderous item.

Recieving a magic weapon should mean something not jsut "oh another +2 longsword guess i will at least get some coin to buy more cure potions" instead i like to see "wow a +2longsword i know i have weapon focus battle axe but this one is magic how can i not use it!!!"

But yes i prefer the role playing of strife over the basic "we donmt agree so i will kill you now" there can be far more enjoyment in dragging out a political disagreement for months in game before they come to fruition. Say due to the city gaurds not allowing weapons in the city or any acts of violence are greatly punished or what ever.

So in closing i prefer low magic high rp servers, dont get me wrong going out and monster bashing is a blast also hehe but it is the top end game that i look forward to the interaction of the players as thier differing alignments and opinions cross and cause issues

I've played on alot of "low magic" servers. What happens alot of times is that melee classes tend to be gimped and classes like Cleric who don't need magic items become gods.

We will be limitting +2 longswords from dropping all over, don't worry, but that doesn't mean over the months of play a fighter might not end up with a +4 longsword and be the envy of all the other fighters out there

We also need incentives for progression for people once they hit 20. Equipment and such is a natural choice for this. But don't expect to see a ton of people decked out in uber gear when you're running around sundren.

DM's will likely be the only ones handing out stuff like that.

I agree 100percent there has to be incentive absolulty and it is great to hear you ahve taken all this into consideration. And yes that does tend to lean towards the amgic caster tis true. It is hard to balance a world and it seems you knwo this and are taking it all into account.

                        Semli,

Your concerns have been noted by the developers countless times. We have done our best to balance out the desires of players and I personally believe the compromise will please everyone. We expect players to have a full set of magical armor by the time they reach level 20, at which point an end game will be available to them. This gives them the ability to pursue items that have strong magical properties. Don't let this fool you though, if someone has a Greatsword+5, there's a formidable amount of time invested in it.

Also don't think that Longsword +# is the only type of Longsword you will run across.

Personally there are lots of things I prefer but RP is the key. After killing the 100th troll or 1000 orc, hack and slash gets old and dull. Now, I am not saying hard core RP, no OOC because frankly this IS a game after all and people come to have fun. Some of the best people I met were on RP PW's and we had a blast some nights not doing much at all other than simply being goofy.

That being said I know it was mentioned what to do after level 20... How long would that take? I prefer it when players have to PAY for thier 20 levels.. not just simply grind it. Then again having someting to do other than simply grind helps that too. By taking time to get to 20 you enjoy it more and it feels special rather than.. well.. now I am 20 so I guess I'll RP..

Low magic. Having everyone running around in +2 armor and weapons seems to deminish the whole. Im not opposed to some but maybe limit it to the crafters to make it so that they also have something to do. Also gives true value to that aspect of the game.

Finally. a DURN good plot/story.. whats the point of running around and doing things if it never seems to impact the game?
