    * As the courtroom waits for Sin'Dolin, Jonas Londew of the prosecution is handed a slip of paper. The prosecutor reads it and briefly frowns. *

Your Honor, it has been brought to my attention that a corpse resembling that of Sin'Dolin Valen'talith has been found in Mossclaw Meet. Obviously, we will investigate this matter. However, in order to keep this trial moving along, the prosecution will call its next witness.

    * Jonas motions to Cadmus to indicate he should proceed *

Cadmus rises to his feet and faces the Judge.

Your Honor. I would like to call Nulinus Lightbringer to the stand.

Cadmus takes his seat and awaits Nulinus to approach the stand.

*Elric stands and looks at the crowd and then the Judge*

"I petition the court to dismiss the charges laid upon my innocent client! The prosecution cannot even produce a witness, they are either dead or in another country, based on how long it takes for them to show up. The prosecution has not produced one shred of evidence concerning my client except that he was present, along with a known Warlock, a necromancer who had a change of heart and became a priest, an inexperienced mage, and an archer."

"Again, unless the prosecution can produce a witness or the prosecution can produce any shred of evidence that my client is guilty, I ask this court to dismiss the charges against him. This is becoming a miscarriage of justice and not only embarrases this court, but all of Sundren!"

        *With that said, Elric sits*

          * The judge looks at Elric impatiently with critical eyes, and says nothing. It is clear he's quickly losing his patience with Elric *

(( Please note that this trial is not in real time; we have to be understanding of people's schedules. Just because it may take someone a day to respond doesn't mean it takes a day in-game. This is going to take a while. Dig in your heels. ))

Cadmus rises to his feet to address those gathered before the court.

Your honor, Master Elric attempts to sway the court with his words by disparaging the reputation of those gathered here this day to see justice served.

I will not dispute the fact that we have had problems locating witnesses to present to the court, but if it is proof that Master Elric seeks, then it is proof we shall provide.

I would like to call forth Orrick Fole to the stand, along with the temple clerics who were in attendance when Tifton Holyguard was slain.

Cadmus nods to the Judge and takes his seat.

Cadmus stands and looks to Orrick.

                    1. Could you please state your name and occupation?

                    2. Please tell the court why you were at the temple on the night of Tiftons death.

                    3. You have said that you recognized the spell that Kemnebi cast while he stood next to Tifton's weakened body. Could you please desribe to the court what he cast, and its effects?

                    4. Did you recognize any other detrimental spells being cast by the others who stood over Tifton's body?

                    5. Are you currently, or have you ever been a member of the Arcanus Liberus?

He clears his throat. Ehem. Yes, I am Orrick Fole, and I am an Illusionist, although most people would probably just say I am a wizard.

                      2. Please tell the court while you were at the temple on the night of Tiftons death.
I was at the temple on the night of Tifton's death to assist you and the others who you had managed to gather. We were trying our hardest to dispel what ever dark magic or curse had taken hold of Sir Tifton. Although, as you know we were sabotaged and our attempt was a failure.

                      3. You have said that you recognized the spell that Kemnebi cast while he stood next to Tifton's weakened body. Could you please desribe to the court what he cast, and its effects?
Yes, I was trying to dispel this dark curse that had befallen Tifton when I, as well as another, noticed Kemnebi conjure an Unholy Aura around himself. I believe that this aura had an effect upon what ever dark curse was effecting Tifton. Shortly after the aura surrounded Kemnebi, Tifton passed. We believed sabotage to be the only reason to cast such a spell instead of trying to dispel the curse, why would anyone who was not trying to sabotage our efforts cast such an unholy spell, inside of a temple no less. If it was not sabotage it was a blatantly reckless act, which regardless of intention, I still believe is the cause of Tifton's death.

                      4. Did you recognize any other detrimental spells being cast by the others who stood over Tifton's body?
To my knowledge the only spells I witnessed being cast, besides for Kemnebi's dark incantation, were the dispellings of the others and myself directed at Tifton.

                      5. Are you currently, or have you ever been a member of the Arcanus Liberus?
I am a member of the Arcanus Liberus, I believe that organization could help to nourish the growth of the arcane practitioners in this region for the better.

                            1. You are an illusionist? What circle of magic can you cast? How many years have you been using magic?

                            2. How can you recognize divine spells? What experience gives you the ability to discern a divine spell, what type of spell, and its intent or affect?

                            3. Is it possible for an Illusionist to cast a glimmer on someone else to make it look as if that person were casting the spell you said you witnessed? What are the limitations of an illusionist?

                            4. Have you ever witnessed a priest casting the spell you said you witnessed prior to Tifton's death? Or is it just book knowledge?

                            5. Did you also witness the defendant casting dispells? and how many dispells were required? Did Tifton's death possibly result in not enough spell power from the group assembled? How many dispells did you cast?

                            6. If you were busy casting magic and concentrating on Tifton, how were you able to detect the defendant casting a different spell and also what type of spell it was and what affect it supposedly had on Tifton? Was your inattention possibly the reason Tifton died?

                            7. What other spells were the other casters casting? How many dispells did everyone cast? Do you know the details of everyone casting or just the defendant? And if so, why did you focus on the defendant instead of what you were supposed to do, save a man's life?

                            8. You said another claimed to see the same spell or aura. How soon after your claim did the other person come forward. And, what is his arcane profession?

                                1. You are an illusionist? What circle of magic can you cast? How many years have you been using magic?
Yes, I am an Illusionist. I have committed spells through the fourth circle to memory, although with a scroll I can cast spells of much higher circles as I did with one of my dispels for Tifton. To be honest I do not know exactly how long I've been practicing magic, my master, who resides in Candlekeep, began teaching me shortly after he found me on the streets, I would say almost all of my life though.

                                2. How can you recognize divine spells? What experience gives you the ability to discern a divine spell, what type of spell, and its intent or affect?
*sighs* Elric I'm surprised I would think you would know these answers for yourself. Recognizing the nature of a divine spell is really not that much different than recognizing the nature of an arcane spell if you've been exposed to them and bear witness to their effects. For a spell caster like my self who has been exposed to a countless number of incantations all of his life, this task was easy, I'm sure if you had him cast it again I could tell you if it was the same spell all day long, although I would advise against the defendant being allowed to channel such a power.

Years of training in the arcane field give me the ability to discern its effects. To tell you the truth Mr.Elric I wish you would have just been there because I'm sure you could have discerned the exact same thing, when you've been practicing magic for a long time discerning the mere intent of a spell is second nature.

                                3. Is it possible for an Illusionist to cast a glimmer on someone else to make it look as if that person were casting the spell you said you witnessed? What are the limitations of an illusionist?
Although it is possible, I do not cast my illusions on to others, I keep them to myself. This spell was not one that created a "glimmer" though as you would say, this spell was dark and evil. The defendant's body became shrouded in pure darkness this was no "glimmer". The limitations of an illusionist are the same as any wizard, it is just a focus, or preference, it does not impede my ability to discern the nature of another spell.

                                4. Have you ever witnessed a priest casting the spell you said you witnessed prior to Tifton's death? Or is it just book knowledge?
I have not witnessed that exact spell, but I have witnessed other clerics, such as Baneites or Cyrics using spells with similar effects to torment their foes. I do have book knowledge as well, while in Candlekeep I studied many books on the spells of the divine, as well as spells of the arcane, although not being blessed upon so fortunately by a god, such as Sir Cadmus there, I was not able to invoke those powers, only those of the weave, so I focused my attention on the weave.

                                5. Did you also witness the defendant casting dispells? and how many dispells were required? Did Tifton's death possibly result in not enough spell power from the group assembled? How many dispells did you cast?
Near the beginning of our efforts the defendant was casting dispels, but near the end he threw in this unholy spell, no doubt trying to mask its nature and effect on Tifton. We can not say how many dispels were required because he died before we had a chance to finish. I do not think that his death could have resulted from not enough spell power, even if the curse was not dispelled, it should have been weakened, at the very least, by our efforts, prolonging his life. I had cast nine dispels myself, including a very powerful dispel from one of my scrolls, I gave Tifton everything I could.

                                6. If you were busy casting magic and concentrating on Tifton, how were you able to detect the defendant casting a different spell and also what type of spell it was and what affect it supposedly had on Tifton? Was your inattention possibly the reason Tifton died?
The defendant was standing only a few feet, directly in front of me, even while looking at Tifton, lying there in agony, I could clearly see the defendant in front of me and Cadmus who was to my right. I would think that NOT noticing the spell he cast would have been harder than actually noticing it. I already told you that discerning the effects of such a spell are second nature, I did not need to lose my concentration or focus to realize what he was doing. You claim I was inattentive, but you were not there, so you can not claim that I was inattentive in my treatment of Tifton.

                                7. What other spells were the other casters casting? How many dispells did everyone cast? Do you know the details of everyone casting or just the defendant? And if so, why did you focus on the defendant instead of what you were supposed to do, save a man's life?
The only spells the other spell casters were casting were dispels. While I had no reason to keep exact count of all the other dispels being cast, I do know that I continued casting mine, after they had finished, I would guess they each casted 6 or less. When everyone is spewing the same incantations over and over again, and I see the man in front of me change pace and become shrouded in darkness, standing right near Tifton's head, and using a different incantation, I am going to take notice of it. Because the others were using the same incantations as I was, I understood the details of what they were doing. Saying that I actually had to focus on this man instead of saving Tifton's life to see what he was doing would be like saying that I could walk in to a building engulfed in flames and not notice, this question is ridiculous.

                                8. You said another claimed to see the same spell or aura. How soon after your claim did the other person come forward. And, what is his arcane profession?
We both claimed to see this aura at about the same time, although he voiced his witness of sabotage shortly before I had a chance to. I do not know exactly what the man's arcane profession is, because I have not had very many chances to get to him myself. Although he seems to be a friend of Cadmus', and he is apparently skilled enough to see what I had seen. The only thing I really know is his name.
