  • *Elric looks at Cadmus and winks*

"Cadmus, oh Cadmus, if you holy types were not so intent on bending everyone to your will, not always thumping your bibles and telling people how to live their lives, this threat from Ill'Karesh would be nothing. Do you not see that when great evil arises and people flock, and I do say flock, it is because there is something lacking in their lives, something they are rebelling against or searching for?"

"Is it rebellion against Sundren and its stifling laws? Is it against the Triumverate and their haughty, holy smugness, are they searching for more meaning than their pitifull lives? I am unsure, but one thing I am sure of, this is not finished, not by a long shot."

"And, I always understood this was not about me *Elric smiles* I merely used all the tools I possess to try and win a case that I knew was probably a lost cause from the start. Do you think I am so stupid that I did not know Kemnebi was guilty? However, I knew others were just as guilty and wanted that to come to light."

"Farewell Cadmus and good luck, you are going to need all the luck you can get!"

*With that, Elric waves with a flourish and walks out of the courtroom.*

    • "Disgusting. Elric trusts the word of an admitted murderer? That he can have such confidence in Kemnebi's lies is disturbing."

"Imprisonment is not enough ... Kemnebi must be silenced forever, lest his lies continue to spread dissent and chaos among us."

        • Saracen, having watched the trial from a corner in the rear of the courtroom, draws his hood back over his head as as the throng shouts and sways in the aftermath of Kemnebi's confession.

"Whoa. That's crazy," he mutters to himself as he steps out the courtroom door.

"Can't say I'm surprised it turned out that way. I just hope the finger-pointing, name-clearing, and noble responsibility-taking doesn't overshadow the fact that we still have to stop the Ill'Koresh."

"Why am I talking to myself?"

He walks off, out of the city.

          • Aresid watches the unfolding drama calmly from his seat, his eyesbrows shootup in surpise as Kemnebi pleads guilty.

What does he hope to gain from this, delaying the rewards his God will give him?, he thinks to himself. Are you trying to take others with you? Or do you hope for rescue?

In the ensuing chaos he sat stoically, watching and listening, memorizing names and faces, mentally making a checklist of things he must now do.
