*Elric stands, looks at the crowd, the judge, and then approaches Elija*

    May I call you Elija?

    1. How far away from the defendant and others were you and were you close enough to see who was participating in using magic and what they were saying?

    2. Who else was involved in this display of magic? Was the defendant the only one?
    A. If not, who else was involved?

    3. If there were more inolved, did others create magic and possibly death magic?
    A. Can you say they were reckless and malicious also?

    3. Do you know if the defendant created any protective magics around the "stage" or if he warned those around to stay away from the magics being cast?

    4. Are you a mage? How do you know what type of spell he cast and if it was reckless or malicious? How can you know what the defendant's intent was? Did you indeed say that the person "probably walked into something he shouldn't have" in your statement?
    A. So, is that reckless?
    B. So, is this malicious
    C. Or was it merely breaking rules on Exigo property?

*Elric draws himself up and states in a loud and clear voice*

Can you indeed state Elija, with complete certainty, that the defendant's act was reckless and malicious.

Can you say he intended to kill someone with his magic?

Dagorn walks into the Chambers to watch the proceedings, sitting down in the back corner to keep to himself, He begins to stoke his pipe and smile as they talk of Kem's deeds.

        * An obviously well prepared, and calm Elija responds to Elric as he questions him *

        Sure.

How far away from the defendant and others were you and were you close enough to see who was participating in using magic and what they were saying?
Twenty feet, give or take. I got closer as I did my rounds. See, I was walkin' that way. An we're trained ta be pretty observant.

Who else was involved in this display of magic? Was the defendant the only one? If not, who else was involved?
The defendant was preparing a stage, as he admitted. He claimed ta be usin' magic to prepare a stage for the bard fellow--the one who died. And you see, this ain't really up fer dispute 'cause the defendent himself admitted to castin' it, admitted ta killin' the fellow, paid a fine, and that was that.

Why don't you ask your own client why he--* Judge Nemits glares at the Sentinel, and Elija quickly stops speaking *

If there were more involved, did others create magic and possibly death magic? Can you say they were reckless and malicious also?
I didn't see another soul castin' nothin. But like I said, it ain't matter. I saw 'em, he admitted to it, and so did everyone there.

Do you know if the defendant created any protective magics around the "stage" or if he warned those around to stay away from the magics being cast?
Naw. But it don't matter. Take away a second he was breakin' Exigo rules, mages are responsible fer their craft, whether they warn people or not. He coulda put a big red flashin' sign up, and it still woulda been his responsibility. You finger wagglers need ta realize what sorta power yer commandin', and take some responsibility fer it.

Are you a mage? How do you know what type of spell he cast and if it was reckless or malicious? How can you know what the defendant's intent was? Did you indeed say that the person "probably walked into something he shouldn't have" in your statement? So, is that reckless? So, is this malicious Or was it merely breaking rules on Exigo property?
Uh, no, I ain't a mage, but I been doin' this job long enough to know when a spell kills someone dead. You see, they stop breathin, and they get this look in their eyes.

        * The judge gives Elija another stern stare *

No, sir, I'm not a mage, but the Syndicate trains us to recognize magic and respond accordingly. I've been in this job a long time. Reckless is breakin' the rules, and yeah it was malicious 'cause he didn't care one lick he killed the man.

Can you indeed state Elija, with complete certainty, that the defendant's act was reckless and malicious. Can you say he intended to kill someone with his magic?
Yes, I can say with complete certainty that his act was reckless. And it were malicious, given his attitude, and the lip he gave me.

But intended. Naw, I suppose he didn't premeditate it. He just didn't give a damn.

*Elric looks at the Judge, then at Elija*

          1. Were you prepared or "coached" for this testimony?

          2. You said you were being paid, who is paying your salary for being here since you are not at work with Exigo?

*Elric looks at Elija and then the crowd*

            * Elija reponds to Elric's questions *

Were you prepared or "coached" for this testimony?
            Naw, I weren't coached.

You said you were being paid, who is paying your salary for being here since you are not at work with Exigo?
Exigo. What I said, didn't I? They good peoples. My boss told me not to worry about missin' work, and that I should come tell the truth.

            * Judge Nemits looks to Elric *

Are you finished with this witness, counselor?

              *Elric looks at Elijah*

Malicious is when someone does an evil act and revells in it. It doesn't mean you are unmoved by another persons misfortune.

              *Elric looks to the Judge*

I have no further questions for this man.

Nulinus smiles as Elija answers the questions with full confidence, I don't know how Kemnebi could not have done it, he whispers.

Counselor, you will ask questions only. It is not your place to make statements.

Your Honor, we have no further questions for this witness.

                  * Elijah stands and makes his way from the courtroom. *

The people call Sin'dolin Valen'talith as our next witness.

Cadmus remains sitting throughout the questioning of the first witness. Scattered in front of him lay piles of freshly taken notes.

Cadmus stares back at Elric, a look of disdain in his eyes. Shaking his head at the Bards flippant attitude he return to his notes. Leaning over to Jonas Londew, Cadmus whipers.

"Elric believes this trial to be a grand show, perhaps one of his stories or plays." "The boy has no regard for the life of the man who sacrificed himself to save so many."
