* Several weeks after the death of Tifton Holyguard, renowned Paladin of Helm, and the arrest of Kemnebi Shadeweaver, a trial is held. Those with a reason to be there are permitted to attend. The court room is filled with friends of the deceased, including members of the churches of Helm and Torm. Balthasar, Abbot Orlan, and many others are in attendance. The Honorable Judge Horace Nemits presides. Judge Nemits is rumored to be a fair man, but one who does not tolerate ineptitude or disruption in his court.
The bailiff addresses the court: "Ladies and gentlemen, Honorable Judge Horace Nemits presiding." Judge Horace Nemits takes his seat, bangs his gavel, and looks to the crowd. *
You may be seated. Today we begin the trial of Kemnebi Shadeweaver, hereafter known as the Defendant, who is being charged with egregious behavior within a city temple, premeditated murder of a city officer, and endangering the peace. Before we begin, let me make it clear that we will have an ordered and civilized trial. There will be no outbursts, and we will handle ourselves respectably. Anyone who does not comply will be removed, forcefully if necessary. It is the prosecution's burden to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the Defendant is guilty of the aforementioned crimes.
The Prosecution is represented by a Mister Jonas Londew, and will be assisted by Cadmus Runesmith. At this time, the Defendant's council will identify themselves, and plead guilty or not guilty.
(( Kemnebi's player will now introduce their lawyer. He can choose to represent himself, have another DM be a lawyer for them, or rely on another PC to be their lawyer. ))
(( Ground rules:
- No OOC comments of any kind. If you have questions, please PM them to me or another DM.
- This has serious repercussions for a number of PCs; please treat it with the respect it deserves.
- PCs who are not on the witness stand or part of the trial can emote reactions or make outbursts, but be prepared for consequences.
- PCs who are removed from the court cannot post additional messages.
