And here's exactly why there might be low players. I ban people who come on my site and decide to be assholes, which there happens to be no shortage of on the net. Cya!The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I look at the number of players there, and see how many are currently active. Perhaps there is an indicator in that?
Ooh there is nothing like management information on any project. Showing what to prioritise and where to spend ones money and effort to have the biggest impact.
Thanks for the cool stats

Actually, from my experience if there are 1 to 5 percent of registered forum members actually online and playing their characters, it's a lot. And not just on this server... Some people sign up then find it's not the place for them, others just signed up for the heck of it and still others don't even have the game or all that's needed to play.Originally posted by Vanya Mia View PostI look at the number of players there, and see how many are currently active. These stats can help you tell who is on, who is on often, and who plays what, while it's not ICly relevant it's certainly good to know OOCly. Even if only for DMs to use in their sinister machina- in their plots.
Who knows, some of these functions may be available in game at some point, such as having a city hall with registered inhabitants...
Another point: Simply because someone invested all this time in developing a cool (or not cool as the opinion might be) website feature, does not mean this person would have been spending the same time working on the mod had he not built this. It's all voluntary after all. And maybe the website developer's expertise isn't needed for the mod at this particular time, or he's waiting for something else to finish before he can even go on. Tons and tons of considerations.Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about.

Perhaps so, but it may enhance the experience of others in Sundren. Figuring whether a particular character class is heavilty used or not, or figuring out the general level distribution for a new player. Hey... some people just want to know what the story is on the server for their own satisfaction!Originally posted by Vanya Mia View PostMy question is genuine. Alot of work is always going into this, and if you're dissatisfied with what you see, you're under no compulsion to stay.Originally posted by Vanya Mia View PostI understand it is a lot of work, and admire your will to provide a service, but I can't help but feel the time would have been better spent on developing quests or other in game activity.
It seems you're not happy playing here for some reason. If you have constructive suggestions related to why that is, please share them. If you simply want to make observations on the fact that players may be transitory in an internet environment, then save it.Originally posted by Vanya Mia View PostI look at the number of players there, and see how many are currently active. I am quite sure its been done to benifit the server and the payoff would could be a long way down the line. As a player I log in and play, those statsd wont effect me but if it helps the Devs in the building of the world so be it.Currently playing:

Yup, but you wouldn't have asked it like that, or made the follow up comments in that way! Anyways... this thread has turned sourOriginally posted by Vekin View PostI saw it as a question Mach *shrugs* its actually the same one I would have asked

We love you all, I promise! And we're not just making nifty internet tools, but doing many other things too.. plots and the like are multiplying in abundance

Guess what? As its been said before, Saulus and the rest of the staff does this stuff for free, for our own enjoyment. Thats like, getting a gift, then bitching about it and talking about how it sucks. Amazingly rude.
What does player count have to do with anything? Too much players cause more problems, as far as I've seen in other servers. Crowded events and people hardly talking to new players. I don't believe Sundren's goal is to have the biggest amount of players on the server, just to provide entertainment for us and themselves. A mature community is much better then a community full of people like you.
I can see why this can help. This'll help DMs, first off, and its a useful tool to those who aren't DMs, allowing us to see who's on, whats the normal amount of money to have, and what classes and races are overplayed/ under played.

It appears that the statistics show deleted characters as well. Can these be filtered from the list?
I often create test characters that are ultimately destroyed, and I would think their existence should not be included within the numbers.Dahdmib Al Faruk: Whirling Ranger
Dordleton Grumplestout: Spelunker Gadgeteer
Shalika Ike: A Dark Woman with a Dark Past

I gotta say, me personally, I'm really really insulted by that.but I can't help but feel the time would have been better spent on developing quests or other in game activity.
I've spent hours upon hours upon hours for this server, and so have all the others, and someone who I've never heard of before, has a total of 10 posts on the forum, comes in and tells me I should spend my time doing other things? Who the hell does he think he is to dictate to me what I should be doing? I didn't ask your opinion. If I want it, I'll ask for it.
Seriously, we like suggestions on things that could improve the server, but if anyone dares to give us an opinion on what we should be spending our real life time doing, I have no pity nor any mercy for the state of your soul on Sundren.
And in case your wondering, even the more active players would get a beat down for this. People like Jaeram, Nickbeat, Gairun, and Kangleton would not be safe from this, and their some of our more influential posters. And then there's undead steak or RoadKill Cow as I like to think of him. He might be the only person I would take such treatment from thats not a DM. And he wouldn't dare do it either.
If the intention was to try to tell us what we should be spending our time on, you've not only failed, but you've made each and every DM and DEV want to work that much less now. GOOD JOB!

Anyone else find it amusing people are replying to a post from someone who is banned and cannot now see it
LH has spent time on something that they believe will enhance Sundren, someone asked how, whats the problem? Plenty of stuff has been added and changed to Sundren some things people agreed with some they did not. Its not the end of the world if someone says they dont agree with it.
I remember when the death system changed and I was on here moaning like hell about it, now to me that was feedback but for whoever worked on it I was probably being an ungratefull git

Vekin,Originally posted by Vekin View PostLH has spent time on something that they believe will enhance Sundren, someone asked how, whats the problem?
It's not at all that someone asked a question, but rather how it was phrased. And when I asked for clarification, the second response was just as rude.
Saying something like "I look at the number of players there, and see how many are currently active. Perhaps there is an indicator in that?" is a veiled insult.
No, not everything we introduce will be well liked or perfect. There will be bugs. We're human and we make mistakes. Some plots will be better than others. We understand that. The key is that we're trying, we do this for free and for fun, and that we sacrifice our time for you. We don't ask for anything in return other than your courtesy, and that you follow the rules.
I don't have a problem with someone suggesting improvements. I don't have a problem with feedback. I DO have a problem with someone saying my work is pointless, or of no value to them; I DO have a problem with a user completely ignoring my points for why this is of value and continuing with further insults.
Seriously, that user was just plain rude. But instead of this conversation devolving into this, let's move back to the Sundren stats system. Let's get back to discussing how we can make this a great, fun, and innovative place to be.

I've thought about having the ability to see all figures, or just those from the last 30 days. Sort of a toggle between ranges. That would take care of that.Originally posted by Dark presence View PostIt might be good to have a completely separate section for level 4+ characters to weed out what are probably mostly inactive or unapproved characters.
