Pleeeeeease don't use this thread for good guys vs bad guys discussions.

As staff, I can tell you BOTH sides have plans, and BOTH sides are working towards them. Of course you guys aren't going to tell each other your plans, that'd defeat the fun of the dice rolls later to see if they work out

I would also advise against starting such a thread. I'd imagine it would be very unproductive. :-)

Hehe. Yay for statistics! I'ld ask for an actuarial table, but I'll be playing in the data anyway.
I'ld be tempted to make the graph anyway, eventually. Like all my other half baked ploys.

Hey, I only wrote two sentences stating my limited view of the situation. It's not my fault everyone took off with it and wrote essays about it.

My essay was intended to prove that the statement didn't match the data. However it was poorly done as I was on my 2nd bottle of cough syrup and at work, so I gravitated away from my thesis. However, I can make amends!

                  Graphs!

(I took liberties with military strength by trying to normalize qualitative descriptions of might from the wiki against Sundren City's assumed strength. Also, it ignores the Hand/Enclave/Left Hand of Mundus ability to use necromancy to turn dead soldiers into undead soldiers)

Also, everything I write in this forum is an essay, because I have Italian blood. I also talk at my monitor with my hands when I get excited. I won't apologize for who I am! (hands waving frantically for emphasis)

Not entirely incorrect. But we won't be sharing military numbers except for a need to know basis.

So couple things.. would it be appropriate to not RP a metalic content for "stags?" in other words, not treat them as gold or copper necesarily, but more like a currency? Perhaps they are called "Golden Stags" though their actual melt value is far less than a solid gold coin for example. Gold is supposed to be pretty rare and valuable. Perhaps they are more of a trade bar issued by the Temple of Waukeen and redeemable for "X" gold?

Also, could we get naming conventions for the other sorts of coins? You mentioned the 1000gp platnum stag? It seems like every coin in common circulation should have its own name, and obviously no one is carrying around 30,000 coins to buy anything... so it would be preferable to RP carrying "30 Dragons", "300 Lions", or "3000 Eagles" for example instead of 30,000 Stags.

On Legacy while your inventory showed a brown stack of copper coins, people always just RPed handing someone 10 silver rather than 500 copper (or whatever the break down was). Gold was almost unused by anyone who wasn't a rich noble. I think those sorts of things help to give a feel of canon realism that helps immersion in a setting.

That's correct. The currency is in stags. Platinum stags are particular currency worth 1000 regular stags, and is usually only dealt with in terms of large trading and purchases, and even then rarely in actual coin (mainly because I needed a more concise way to do numbers without a whole lot of 0's). They're likely coated with a layer of the actual metal, but aren't pure all the way through. The temple of Waukeen deals in respective worth amounts between the valley and the rest of Toril.

                          Just the two types.

A lot of people like to use RP'ed bank notes to the temple of Waukeen instead of actual coinage. It allows flexibility in amounts, and is easily enough to pretend feasible.

And what a great plot it would make if someone discovered the temple of Waukeen was issuing more trade notes than they actually had gold to cover those IOUs with?

Sandro makes it rain at the Second Wind. Sing him a song? 100 stags! Draw a picture of him? 100 stags! Be Laurana and threaten to shoot him in the face with arrows? More than 100 stags! What the heck, it's all Blackwood's money from that vampire quest anyways! =p
