I know the thread got locked due to some kind of falling off topic but I was looking at ideas for a good character build for an evil PC that could create some interest on the server and I soon started to realise that D&D in it's most basic form and it's early beginnings was all about making a Hero and going off to fight evil doers.
If you look, everything did used to be bent towards evil but in more recent times people have started to play evil as players rather than leaving it to be something DM's handle, to be beaten.
It was the fact I noticed that a heck of a lot of the best PrC's and ECL races are geared towards evil, yuanti, drow, duergar, gray orcs, Blackguards, assassins, shadow dancers (If shar worshippers) shadow thieves yada yada.
There is a lot of evil in all that ECL and prestige. A lot of it is restricted here on Sundren and on many other player worlds. You have to do applications and such to be able to play them and as such, a lot of the time these things don't get played.
I was just contemplating what i could get up to as a multiclassed Drow, rogue/warlock/assassin.
or maybe a yuanti arcane trickster
"bah never mind, i'd have to win RPOTM to even apply for that on Sundren!" I thought an then I found myself messing around building an arcane archer wood elf worshipper of solonor thelandira and I thought... oh here we go again another goody.
Before I know it my good PC is nice high level and I'm happy playing it. To make something evil now... nah I'm not a multi PC kind of person. Maybe another time.
You guys have a problem. The good guys have established themselves at the high levels
The evil guys are more likely to die and so they are all generally lower level PC's who have a tough time.
They need some encouragement, they need a little somethign extra for their effort.
Just let people put in applications for evil PC's that require a PrC or ECL race.
It's not much to ask, you can always look at the application and say "No, silly little person go away, that is rediculous." Players can hack that, at least they had a chance to ask. Then they can go think harder and come back with something better.
What is the worst that can happen, you end up with a cult of warlock drow assassins skulking around in hoods... uh.. mission accomplished!
