Actually, I don't smite or police as much as I let on in truth. I have yet to actually check if anyone has been running dungeons too much. I put rules like that in mostly so if I see people doing something "Too much" I can go "Hey homie, I wrote it down in the forum" and people can't argue it.

Our ban list has only 2 people in it currently, and I havn't really deducted much experience from anyone. So I guess I sound like a press the button more than I actually do.

And in truth, compared to other RP servers, I thought the exp script was kind of generous. 3100 exp / day or you start to go below 100% gain down to 0, that seems pretty fair.

I understand you don't have to play here but when you invest time some place its not easy to just get up and leave. Forlorn should be listen to not attacked.

Look I really want to dissect your post, but in the end I don't really feel like taking more time away from doing projects that are appreciated. Let me make myself perfectly clear, this one time.

THE STAFF IS IN NO WAY OBLIGATED TO EXPLAIN THEIR DECISIONS/ACTIONS TO YOU.

Please, take the martyr-dramaqueen act elsewhere, I perfected it years ago and therefore can't possibly fall for it. Kthxbye.

Actually, a couple of us do know of Forlorn from a previous server.

I'll give him that he's got a couple of points maybe that are known, have been acknowledged many times and will be addressed sooner or later, certainly as things are still in beta.

As someone pointed out, the key word is BETA. If things were the way they are and we were live, different story.

Things like point #4, obviously he hasn't tried the ooc tool in the past week or so. It also comes off sounding like a specific/pointed and unfair criticism of GBX, and I cannot disagree more; the scripting for most things here is quite well done.

Overall the post does sound rather negative rather than constructive, as well as being less than informed/inaccurate. I might sound like I'm trying to chalk up points but *shrugs* feel free to think so.

To the Devs: you guys are doing hard work and good work; I'm aware of that and try and keep that in context as well as the ever present fact that you're doing this for free and spending your time and money on this project. Regardless of whether we agree with every decision or like everything (probably impossible anyway) about the server, some of us, probably the majority of us, do keep that in mind, so take the criticisms, especially the ones that seem out of left field and/or totally off base, with a big grain of salt/like water off a duck's back.

To Forlorn: I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but you tend to come off as a less than considerate/reasonable person to deal with from some of the posts I've seen you put up on Frontiers. Maybe you're a great guy and it's just the way you post that comes across that way, but it's something you'd benefit from being aware of.

Since I'm about to head out the door I will start with one point and work there.
First though I did defend the majority of the staff. It's just a few that are a bit over zealous in there approach and application.

That being said I'll start with Forlorn's number one, Areas.

Agreed the server is in fact beta. Few areas only 2 with monsters in which you gain xp. Gaining Xp shouldn't be the priority in my opinion, especially if the server is meant to be "hardcore" role playing setting. Sundren is not a hardcore rp server, it still allows computer automation to handle aspects of the game like death, money ect.
Sundren needs to be more balanced about what they have put out. your worried about grinding and farming thats all well and good but you need to put more content than just 2 areas with monsters and the rest with little to no interaction with npc's and the environment.
This isn't a real beta test its more of an alpha test. Your testing server strength, area capacity, and area integrations just to name a few things on a HUGE list. Its hard to get something like Sundren together and it's hard to have to hear negative comments about your work but thats how you grow.
you can't say no grinding but leave 2 areas for people to do combat in. Its an integral part of the Pen and Paper game as well as NWN2. Every one likes the combat or they wouldn't play, or they would make a non combative character . which all classes are.

If you guys didn't want to hear the complaint of to little areas then you should have released the mod when all the core areas where done. I feel it was released to soon.

The mod should have been planned out better in respects to the balance of rp area//non combative to combative areas.

thats it for me right now. Ill bring more to the table latter

Ithildur: Overall the post does sound rather negative rather than constructive, as well as being less than informed/inaccurate.
I'd like to say the same.. It's better to be constructive than negative, and I felt this post was almost turning into a flaming when I read Forlorn's first post. I'm not sure if you're in a bad mood or something Forlorn, mate, but try to be nicer when posting. When a dev reads a negative flaming post they mostly get angry and don't even care about your points, which may be both good or bad.

That's just a positive and constructive way for me to tell you how you should think and feel when pointing out things that you aren't happy with..
It's better if we all try to get along and help eachother build this beta up to a great server!

Just my side of the penny... *rolls eyes*
            Cheers mates!

I like the world map. I always liked world maps (or region maps, as it is) and I saw it as a very good thing that Sundren had a world map.

The mention about elitism struck a cord in me because I recalled at how my goblinoid thread was received ("I picked this up, so, if you can include that in the future, it'd be really neat" for a "OMG, U powergamer!" reply) but I figured that Sundren had so many other nice traits that I could afford my ego being stepped on some.

Also, being a DM and building a world, either for PnP or for NWN2, is grueling often thankless work. As a DM hears more complaints than he hears "thank yous" for their efforts.

I therefore hijack this thread. This is now a "Thank you for making Sundren" thread.

I'm not going to put a lot of efford into expressing my opinions about the post Forlorn made, but let's just say that Clutch took the bull by the horns and pinned it down rather nicely.

Really, these are all issues we are aware of, and most of them have been posted about elsewherem several times. So please, if you feel you're being ignored, chuck me a PM. If you keep throwing messages at one person, you'll end up annoying that person a lot.

Noone is paid for this, hell, some of us pay for this. Just keep that in mind the next time you're annoying that noone has responded to you, in-game or otherwise.

"One would think that with this system each area would be extremely vivid and breathtaking but in fact they are just ***OK***, making the system not all that its cracked up to be."

This one really really upsets me. I appreciate criticism. This is not constructive in any way. So let me be just as polite. Up yours.

Oh. Well, it was worth a try.

I appreciate all the hard work that's being done. I'm sure most of us do - we just don't say it often enough.

I'd say that all areas are so well done that I can't imagine the hours you've spent modelling and mapping them...
I've tried to make some own areas, and that sure was hell on earth. It all ended up in my character being a tiny ant in a world where everything where huge!

I'll give you guys a 9 out of 10 when it comes to mapping, and that goes for both me and my friend who plays there.. We werer talking over internetphone when we both gasped over the areas our characters entered!

Keep up the good work modellers and mappers and scripters!
I tip my hat and bow to you, since I know that I could never do it better than any of you!

                          Though to Godbeast-
My problem with the XP script is simple; it sorta kills the 8-16 hour Sundren sessions I've been putting in the last few days. 23 XP per ghost makes me sad. >_<*scratches head* (Mind you; I really don't have anything better to do)

And I have to say though; Alexander still can't walk straight after the last smiting m'lord; and the Mummy Lord don't help.
