  • How do you roleplay low CHA.

When you have a low CHA score, how do you RP it? Do you act like a cock to everyone you meet? Do you RP that you have bad breath? I am looking for feedback on how CHA can be RP'ed appropriately.

Having low CHA can in fact effect the behavior of the character in many ways. They could be hideously ugly, rude or snide. They may not be able to convey their feelings well and always get the words mixed up, or say the wrong things all of the time. They might have a very passive personality, and aren't willing to speak up or make themselves noticed.

CHA basically determines how approachable your character is...and how they get a long with others. It also is the trait of a strong minded, strong willed person apparently (since sorcerers need it for casting).

IT GOES 40 MINUTES, but not seconds. Draw off by the pillar of fail!

Mathius Rhinehart has an 8 Cha, but he looks pretty good for having an 8, lol. I usually try to play this 8 by having him have no tact at all, and basically just say whatever he feels like, regardless of insulting someone.

I understand what CHA is supposed to represent, what I want to know is how do you RP having low CHA. I ask so other players can get an idea of how to properly RP their stat bonuses/deficincies and CHA is a very hard one to get 'right'. I'd love for some RP'ers to post their thoughts of how they handle low CHA.

It depends on the character of course.
My character Zeb has low charisma - he is very old, with good intentions and excellent wisdom, however he talks down to people and calls everyone laddy or lass. Even when trying to be diplomatic or espousing a decent idea he tends to be too blunt or cut corners in what he means...he is obtuse also...which is well annoying.

Guess that's how I rp my characters low charisma...however, he is quite likeable...just in small doses.

I've never associated CHA with phsyical beauty, at all.
I see it as your ability to inspire, charm or otherwise convince others that you're right and they should feel happy to agree with you and follow you.

For example, a good football coach. He may be 55 with a big beer belly, but if hes good (like high cha) he'll get his players to "love" him and want to break their backs to win the game for him. Even though they are in no way attracted to him physically.

The other hand being that really hot girl who's totally selfish, stuck-up and pain to be around. I won't like that person no matter how attractive they are.
Of course, I know guys who pick girls almost totally on looks, so this is a personal opinion I guess.

Tavain has low cha. He may not be the prettiest stone in the river, but he has a sort of ruggedness that may or may not be attractive along with a *little* bit of natural elven handsomeness. He will often ask the wrong questions or accidentally interrupt people, and around large groups he becomes anxious and either quiets down and seems less social or makes bad attempts to interject his thoughts. He is most comfortable among kin and friends, but tries hard to be open to others, though he may be blunt and ignorant at times.
Heh, i guess my characters are deleted, now. Updating char list soon!

I think you can play low cha is a number of ways. You can act like a tool to people. You can be a wallflower that doesn't say much and don't really make an impression on people. Or the way I play my ranger. Eating with hands, wiping his mouth on his sleeve. He doesn't have the best manners because of his time spent in woods and will put off polite company.

Alathra actually has the bad end of an average CHA score. I roleplay that as her coming of arrogant and lofty to people she doesn't know. She sports a high INT score, and a very high WIS, so the words coming out of her are actually very sound advice (usually), but she just says it in a certain way that could make her seem annoying in diplomatic situations.

That, and since she is a monk, she does nothing to make her appearance better to be attractive. I see her as being attractive in the way that she rests so much in herself, having found the inner peace which can be visibly seen by others in the way she presents herself.

I thought just sprung to mind, though...what if a low CHA character has a good diplomacy score? Hm. That could prove some interesting roleplay
Jaythen Auraya, wandering healer and herbalist. Also sligthly mad.

I had a character that was lower CHA 8. Wasn't rude, wasn't loud mouth, wasn't ugly. Was just creepy, so creepy people wanted to stay away from the character. Not creepy as in blood and gore, or undead and shadows, but creepy as in "Something is off with that person, let's avoid them" heheh.

I tried playing a bow-wielding archer with low charisma for a while on Sundren, I just roleplayed him as extremely antisocial with everything but elves. My only other low (8-9) charisma character ever was insane and extremely unattractive.

I neither play a low Charisma character nor do I intend to play one.

Oh, and I am not playing warlocks, paladins, bards or sorcerers.
