I assume it would set it up so that you start at 1 with more XP to go until 2?"Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."

For ECL 3. You need 3k xp for lvl 2, 4k more for 3, 5k more for 4 etc. And if they set a an xp cap of 190k, the amount non ecl races need to reach lvl 20. you would only be able to reach lvl 18.Nobody ever won a war by dying for his country. Perhaps my usage of these numbers are a bit off, but a 3ECL race would be Svirneblin, yes? In which case the amount needed for level 2 is higher than 3000?"Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Hey Guywise!
That directed at me? Or at the drow in question?
I won't worry much about becoming high level at all. But I'm not sure about playing a race with a LA either.
Edit: Yes, 3k is for level 3. Normally, characters would gain their next level at 6k. A svirfneblin would gain it at 10k only. At least that is how it should be I think - but I wanted to get the affirmation from staff here.Playing Asha'easaahae Illeleste & Frem

Anarouch, I tried to answer both. And give as much info as I can to help people with with questions on this topic. Here is a more of an explanation. If you chose to be a Svirneblin the 3k starting xps will get you lvl 2 where non ecl race will be at 3. And say to get to lvl 5 you would need a total 18k. A non ecl only 10k.Nobody ever won a war by dying for his country. Wars are won by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his.- George S. Patton

Er wait, what?
No no, let's look at it with just the basics. ( Starting XP from Sundren, 3,000 )
0 - Humans
1,000 - Tieflings (+1), Level 2
3,000 - Drow (+2), Level 3
6,000 - Svirneblin (+3), Level 4
10,000 - Level 5
Tieflings would go to level 2 with 1,000 left over.
Drow to level 2 with no spare change.
And Svirneblin would be 1,000 under their next level (2)."Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."

Playing one would not really be a feasible option as the little amount of XP would eventually 'kill' the character...Playing Asha'easaahae Illeleste & Frem
