chunks of xp lost

Yes, the death system has been changed since you were last playing. You can look at an old thread to get the exact information.

when you lose 5% to 10% of your total xp and your at level 15... it really hurts a lot.

Yeah, it's pretty fierce. I lost 1000xp from dying at level 5 when a few of gnolls decided to nail me when I was in a large group. Losing 1000xp at that level makes you not want to group and take any risk, and RP suffers...

You also lose stags and equipment. When my druid respawned at level 6, he was missing his armor and 10 heal potions.

Yes, it is very stiff, so be careful when you are out there. I am not sure what level that starts?

As to Signus', I know they are supposed to be rare; however, of all my guys and all the things I have killed, I have only come across one. Although I don't play that often, so I may be missing them in the spawn tables.

Well, I'll put it to you this way, with quests you'll get signuses as a quest reward in a lot of them, and as soon as we are cranking them out you'll also make more XP.

Just to give you some optimism about that, we've already prototyped and had our first quest working in Sundren so we are working on more at the moment. More on this as it develops.

And ironically its much easier to die at level 15 against things that give you xp.

Not exactly. The choice isn't just 'fight or RP', its 'Fight tougher monsters in a party and RP, RP without combat, or fight easier monsters solo'. What I'm saying is that if a week's worth of progress is erased when I party and take some risk, I'm going to level up solo so I can participate in Sundren - because now I really can't.

As far as items and gold.... is there a banking system on this server? somwhere to store our gold and items? for future use? or to keep them from being taken during the death penalty?

Yes, there is a bank in, I believe, Sundren city. Also grats on getting a quest up dev team, I had heard something in another post but it was from a new user so I figured it was either something a DM did, or they were mistaken lol.
