  • Dark Areas

I cannot really remember the amount of truly dark areas in Sundren, you know the places where a torch/light spell/darkvision is needed to even navigate.

    Or are there none?

Meh, but you can simply just make it real bright by adjusting your video options.

another thing that's taken for granted in both games and P&P games. Sadly the low light vision spell doesn't seem to work...no clicky in the mode bar like if you had it normally.

Remember unless your playing a human or halfling you'll have low light or darkvision anyway and you might not notice dark areas.

The caves in Aquor are very dark.

For those that don't know, low-light vision and dark vision can be activated on the Eye button on the bottom right Mode Bar, it's not activated by default. The visual effect is pretty cool and I encourage people to use it to show how far their character can really see.

Took me a while to figure this out. Also, it appears (well certainly for me at least) that it has to be activated every time you change area, it doesn't seem to 'stick' on.

so, low light vision spell is now just to cause yourself to get into fighting stance...and nothing else.

meh. Obsidian needs to fix that.

Personally I'd like to see more areas that have darker night. For instance, Aquor looks very realistic at night because it becomes very, very dark. Many other areas have night that is hardly impacting at all. Pitch black nights everywhere would be awesome, requiring torches and Light spells.

From a mapper's perspective, dark areas are a nightmare.

They make sense gameplay-wise, in that they require players to find ways to illuminate their suroundings.

However, lighting is a major element of creating atmosphere in an area. Invariably, gloom is far better than dark and can be pretty creepy. If you want more dark areas, close your eyes
