Hm. Definetly something I should get made to eat players with. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

My favourite 'monster' would have to be... undead of all flavors. But very specifically, Liches. And not the lame DnD kind, but the awesome WoW kind like Kel'thuzad and Ras Frostwhisper (where do you think my char's last name came from? xP).
Been a fan of Liches ever since first playing Secret of Mana when I was, like, 5 or 6, and fighting the final boss, Thanatos, in his end-game Dark Lich form (with awesome music).
I always felt that DnD Liches look too much like mummies, as they still have that whole 'wrapped' and 'decaying' (rather than completely skeletal) appearance. Demiliches come much closer to the typical Lich (typical being floating skeleton with flowing robes and no legs), though still aren't as cool.
Main reason that I love Liches, aside from their awesome looks, is the fact that they are completely sentient. I don't like non-sentient monsters, or the usually dumb monster races. Liches on the otherhand have all the knowledge and personality they had in life as, generally, a human, simply in willing undead form. This makes them capable of depth, capable of plans and plots and mingling in a very real form with the storyline instead of just being a random bad guy, and they give structure to the otherwise usually unstructured undead forces (more WoW-ness, the Scourge is still the coolest iteration of undead in any game so far). In addition, at least in the WoW version, they use frost magic extensively, and frost magic of any kind is awesome in my book ('the cold chill of the grave', frost has that feeling of 'hopelessness', unlike boringly destructive fire.).
Concerning orcs 'n stuff, I'm very much not a fan of the typical 'monster races', generally, and hate orcs, goblins, kobolds, etc. Mostly because they're brainless louts who are pretty much just evil creatures for the good guys to kill. Any attempts at changing said stereotype always appeal to me though, so I love WoW's orcs, WoW's goblins, WoW's trolls, Deekin, Thay's Gnolls, etc, which gives a duality to the typical monster types that you don't generally see (and I don't just mean giving a culture but keeping them the evil bad guys. I like to see a civilized faction that has both its good guys and bad guys and ability to change, run away and regroup, etc, instead of constantly rush blindly onto the good guys' spears).-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

O_O.
Whos Ras?
PRobably some WoW Stuff.
They should make WC4, not focus on WoW -.-
Anyways, Warcrafts liches are pretty cool, and they've always looked awesome. Kel'Thuzad is awesome, but its just that WoW is idiotic, and it messed up all the Warcraft storyline. Apparently a random bunch of adventurers get to slay him... >_>.

Ras Frostwhisper was one of the random Lich hero names for WCIII, but he was made into a specific boss in WoW, the owner of the Scholomance (School of Necromancy, one of the best dungeons in WoW alongside Stratholme, the Scarlet Monastery, and the Deadmines).Originally posted by undeadsteak View PostO_O.

And psh. More WoW-stuff > WC4. StarCraft has much better gameplay in terms of strategy games, WarCraft is much better in RPG form (WCIII was all about grinding and leveling hero characters anyway rather than worrying about regular units, it was funner to just turn on cheats and play through the game for the story rather than the boring gameplay. WoW just took that concept and expanded on it).
And no, while WoW messed up some of the WarCraft storyline, the Scourge parts remain just as cool as ever. A random bunch of adventurers don't kill him, he's a Lich, his phylactery isn't destroyed, and so he's coming back for the new expansion (where I hope, again, he isn't destroyed, as Kel'thuzad is the coolest char in WoW, as he's very loyal to Arthas to the point of friendship, which is quite original compared to most villains)
Anyways, Saulus will yell at me for bringing up WoW stuff, so no more. <.<-Arcanist Josirah Caranos, Red Wizard of Thay

That's me taking that damage.....twice, actually. I'm really a Lich IRL, so I got up afterward. Stings though...a lot. And burns take a while to repair.Originally posted by Blue_Wyrm View Post

As for the topic though: I'm a big fan of true Kobolds. You know..the kind that serves a dragon, reveres its sorcerers (because kobolds don't have wizards...they get their magic from their Dragon Blood) and functions as a colony.
Also a huge fan of the Lich concept. I'm tired of the melodramatic, always evil as hell and power-hungry persona that gets tagged on to them though. I prefer the light that the "ever-living" are given in the Vlad Taltos book series. It's a character in that series that I've loosely based my wizard on for Sundren.Don't run...you'll only die tired.
