Chaotic Evil groups tend to be led by the strongest individual and are usually rag-tag and motley. And if the leader gets weakened, others may attempt to beat her down and assume leadership, possibly even fragmenting the group.

A marauding band of cut-throats, or a small group of pillaging trolls are good examples of CE groups.

LE is most likely going to try to beat down somone and assume leadership as well, it all depends on personality. and once again, Non CE groups can also be lead by the most powerful member, it all depends on personality, beliefs, and the such. Meh, i really think alignment is simply silly now.

He was hardly careful at all. I remember my character had just gotten back from slaughtered goblins and banites by the dozen in the caves with his small band of other like-minded adventurers when all of a sudden Drauius starts talking about vampires right out in the open. He then proceeded to hint very obviously at a certain elf who had apparently been bitten by a vampire for just about everyone in close vicinity who was paying attention to see. He basically was throwing up a sign saying "Hi, I'm evil, want to see what I can do to others?"

        Yeah, so much for careful.

lol I always talked about vampires in the open.. but then again so would the good guys. I was carful about what needed to be hidden. And I did it quite well. hence I lasted as long as I did, more than I can say about these other chaps dying at level 3 and 5.. *shakes head*

Uhm, talking about vampires is evil? I doubt it. Everyone talks about vampires, theres been lots of discussion about them, seeing as Theres a few going around.

I've said plenty about vampires in the open, around the camp fires. And my character is not evil. But seeing how their currently is a vampire problem, it isn't unrealistic to hear people passing rumors and such around about them.

And as far as the best evil char's I know is Morb a wannabe Palemaster and Sallise (sp) A whispering Banite :P

Kyra, i'd say Ethane (If your talkingabout him.) Is most likely good. Being rude and not giving crap if people dont like you isnt anywhere near evil. thats simply your characters personality, i dont think it has much to do with good or evil, or chaotic and lawful.

                      That can be evil.

"Paladin! Goblins are coming to kill us, do something!"

                      "Pike off!"

Yeah, being rude can be very evil.

I think that just not caring about people you don't like and causes that aren't yours is pretty close to True Neutral, as you don't feel compelled to help strangers (no sense of altruism). Add to this personality that the only thing that motivates you is personnal gain, and you move in the building right next to it, Neutral Evil.

                          evil

To me in my years of D&D ive always thought that the most calculating manipulating devious of all evils was the Netural Evil character. Always figured Netural evil was the supra-genus of evil.

I thought that was Lawful Evil, but then maybe I just interpret alignments differently... after all it's a very loose concept, and the only decent attempt I've ever seen at classifying personnalities.

The most pernicious alignment of them all is the most morally flexible... True Neutral is more dangerous than any evil!

That may transcend plain rudeness though, because it's coupled with lack of action...or in this soon-to-be-fallen-Paladin's case, shunning his code.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, I feel evil is the result of actions (or lack thereof) not just words, at least in terms of the medium we're working with.
