  • Oh Noes - Tons of Evil!!!

You enter a dark room. It is largely populated with chairs, and the only light is from a large cloth that lines a wall with images being displayed upon it. With a bucket full of seared corn which has exploded into balls of white clouds, you creep slowly toward a location that is ample for viewing this "screen."

Soon, the display of wonderous creations for your purchase end, and the actual reason why you have come begins. It is a movie!

With a mighty and thunderous rhythm, music plays, displaying names you will never remember, that contributed to this creation, and finally, the words cease and only two men in armor fill the screen.

One of these men is old, withered, crippled, hunched over, leaning upon a cane, and in black armor. The other, is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He stands in shimmering silver lined armor, with a sword, ready to strike. After a moment of the man in black wobbling and Arnold giving him the narrowed eye, Arnold rears back, gathering all of his might, then releases upon the man a single blow, beheading him...

    The movie is over!

    Do you:

    A) Wait for the sequel?
    B) Clap as if this is the best movie you have seen?
    C) Ask yourself why you just spent 10$ for this?

Why am I posting this? Because alot of players are hoping for A and B. However, Sundren is working to be nothing like the above movie. Sundren has a main plotline, and to get this to you players, it has to be furthered. What does that mean? You might feel dark days in the coming future as evil tightens it's grip and you have no idea how to get it to release it... Instead of fitting into what would be good RP around this concept, we are getting OOC complaints "Evil is too powerful for me!"

Honestly, I'm wondering how anyone can consider themselves a good roleplayer and think that good always stomps evil into the dirt wherever it's found. I had all these working plans to counter act evils and bring out plots and such specifically for good guys, but with attitudes like that, it makes me wonder if some players can handle them?

The balance between good and evil will shift a great deal on Sundren as the stories unfold, trust me! Some days it will seem hopeless for your characters on both sides, and like the night turning to day it will be turned around.

If you can't handle stories unfolding and are the type to watch movies backwards, ending first, Sundren is not for you. If you can't handle getting kicked around sometimes, Sundren is not for you. If you can't be patient with DMs to work for both sides some directions then others (Good and Evil) Sundren is not for you.

You're all going to get a place in the story, but if you can't wait for the story to barely begin before you feel like you should win or end the story, and then complain when we don't let you, then Sundren is not for you!

Conclusion: We're building up the evil forces right now so you guys understand them. In time you will know why.

"Good", "Evil", it's all naughty (and that could mean naughty-bad or naughty-fun) to the Neutral character . Anyway, I like my evil overwhelming and oppressive... like the church of Helm!
    I got one leg missin'
    How do I get around?

Honestly, GBX, I was a little intimidated by the sudden flux of evil stomping around in the form of vampires and other things (not to be a spoiler); but as Jaus started piecing some things together, (again, avoiding spoilers) I am getting excited.

I know I have been my share of annoying, and so has Jaus, so I thank you. You being the DMs. For putting up with my crap with a smile and providing what I can see to be a "fun", albeit chaotic, future for Sundren.

      Word.
Jaus Rein:"Alvays say eet ees better tau be unnoticed zen tau be a 'eero."
Reth'dor Fre': "When is it my turn to truely smile?"

I didn't ever ask to be evil, but I love all my characters to be able to develop in some way.

I am having fun being hunted as I'm sure a lot of other PCs have fun grouping together around campfire before heading out to...

chop off my head / stake me/ burn me/ throw holy water / symbols at me / throw me in moving water/ use silver on me / tie me down in the sunlight or for comical value repeatedly throw me against open doorways of houses I haven't been invited inside of ... just to watch me bounce off the invisible barrier.

PFFFT, Bring on the evils! Rook will take them DOWN!
A vampire can level-drain Rook, so what? She will just scream at them till they cower in fear! /gloat
~Lyonette L'cyr (Rook)-- Deader than Malaclypse

~Megandlla Uyth 'Llar -- In a land Far Far away!

~Emilee Mistwalker -- A Female Sigrun? Pfft, far cooler--.... eh.... Hated!!

Rook hates/respects Jaus at the same time! And you made her cry. . . ((Go emotional breakdowns!))

I think it would be cool to see an evil uprising for once. Its always about the "good guys" running around and having fun. Why not give the "bad guys" their moment of glory?
Elriel Freyja: Child moon elf ranger that can't keep herself out of trouble
Caindy Blake: Human fighter with a limp in her step

Thy soul shall find itself alone
                'Mid dark thoughts of the gray tomb-stone;
Not one, of all the crowd, to pry
                Into thine hour of secrecy

Another main thing to the people who think eather side is lets say "over powered" is that no matter what, youll die eventually, just some sooner then others . Nor will one snuff out the other fully. Eather of them cant exist without the other.
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

just my humble opinion, but It's my belief that a PW world should always be BIG on the evil, or to quote a platinum blond Vampire, "the big evil". Evil should'nt be on the rise, evil should always be risen. A land filled with constant turmoil. Keep those hoity toity lady boots wearing good guys beaten down with constant struggle strife and drama. Let the villain type characters make pacts with evil factions, and try to keep down the "Heroes" even more. I personally like dark evil PWs where good is as rare as a 3 dollar bill, and that 3 dollar bill is gonna have one damned hard(yet entertaining and rewarding) road ahead of them. That's what a hero is.
