You enter a dark room. It is largely populated with chairs, and the only light is from a large cloth that lines a wall with images being displayed upon it. With a bucket full of seared corn which has exploded into balls of white clouds, you creep slowly toward a location that is ample for viewing this "screen."
Soon, the display of wonderous creations for your purchase end, and the actual reason why you have come begins. It is a movie!
With a mighty and thunderous rhythm, music plays, displaying names you will never remember, that contributed to this creation, and finally, the words cease and only two men in armor fill the screen.
One of these men is old, withered, crippled, hunched over, leaning upon a cane, and in black armor. The other, is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He stands in shimmering silver lined armor, with a sword, ready to strike. After a moment of the man in black wobbling and Arnold giving him the narrowed eye, Arnold rears back, gathering all of his might, then releases upon the man a single blow, beheading him...
The movie is over!
Do you:
A) Wait for the sequel?
B) Clap as if this is the best movie you have seen?
C) Ask yourself why you just spent 10$ for this?
Why am I posting this? Because alot of players are hoping for A and B. However, Sundren is working to be nothing like the above movie. Sundren has a main plotline, and to get this to you players, it has to be furthered. What does that mean? You might feel dark days in the coming future as evil tightens it's grip and you have no idea how to get it to release it... Instead of fitting into what would be good RP around this concept, we are getting OOC complaints "Evil is too powerful for me!"
Honestly, I'm wondering how anyone can consider themselves a good roleplayer and think that good always stomps evil into the dirt wherever it's found. I had all these working plans to counter act evils and bring out plots and such specifically for good guys, but with attitudes like that, it makes me wonder if some players can handle them?
The balance between good and evil will shift a great deal on Sundren as the stories unfold, trust me! Some days it will seem hopeless for your characters on both sides, and like the night turning to day it will be turned around.
If you can't handle stories unfolding and are the type to watch movies backwards, ending first, Sundren is not for you. If you can't handle getting kicked around sometimes, Sundren is not for you. If you can't be patient with DMs to work for both sides some directions then others (Good and Evil) Sundren is not for you.
You're all going to get a place in the story, but if you can't wait for the story to barely begin before you feel like you should win or end the story, and then complain when we don't let you, then Sundren is not for you!
Conclusion: We're building up the evil forces right now so you guys understand them. In time you will know why.
