I guess while we are on this, I think this is a good point. Ive seen even here, people say things in their bios what makes me reread it again because it bewilders me on why they would put it there. Some would put what evil/good things their character did, or write things like "has a tatoo on their back". Its like ok, I dont know your characters past unless you tel me, so why have it there? And your wearing cloths any time im probably going to see you, so why not just say that when you actually show it?

Also stuff like said above " his eyes seem to pierce your soul" ...sorry but no they dont. Only people i could see haveing something like this is a paladin and it being like "You get a slight sence of courage when around this person." It being a supernatural ability sure it would effect people a little. Blacckguard would work to" You feel a sence of sadness/sorrow around this person" But id be willing to bet in some way it would lead to a bit of meta gameing.

Note: This is just a problem i see about PCs, npcs can have whatever in their bio and sometimes its needed, and well..they are NPCs..
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

I work it IC and just arrest them with NPCs.

"Sir, you clearly have an evil aura. I'm going to have to arrest you so we can get this sorted out."

"Sir, I think you're piercing my soul right now and Helm really doesn't like that."

You know, slap em for writing all that.

Tattoos, however, SHOULD go in description. It's up to you to realize you can't see the tattoo at that time. If you end up ripping off his shirt (For whatever reason <_< >_>) You'll know it's there now.

Well I guess I should hop in on this and put my .02 in..
I use the CR to gauge for parties and what not.. But I dont say if a person is able to travel along with us or not.. I leave that up to them (everyones characters can do something else, sometimes better than what the CR says). Generally though if they know they can hardly take on a couple goblins they wont go running into Virdale Forest screaming for trouble.

I would say to keep it for the purpose of partying and keeping a level balance in groups. But when it comes to RP and the possibility of RP.. just play as you normally would. Though if you see certain items that you havent seen yet.. its a good chance your out of your league...*looks at tes's red armor* that stuff still makes me want to set out on a quest for it.

A phenomenon that I have witnessed, and one I do not like, is that of higher level characters only speaking with other higher levels, ignoring low level characters entirely sometimes. Obviously not all high levels do this, but I've seen it several times, though I will not name any names.

This sort of behavior and elitism is something that can be highly detrimental to a community.

Of course, I've also seen people threatening and bullying lower level PCs entirely with their levels. Which is also the Suck.

Though I haven't had people totally ignore me all together, I have had people give me the brush off for no apparent reason, IC or OC. But it is unfortuneate indeed. I use "examine" to gauge who I think would be willing to group with me based off of previous experience. I have simply been told that I "do not possess the ability to keep up" or something similar. *shrugs* I have seen it on every server I have been on. Nothing new. On to my opinion... I think using "examine" in NWN2 helps fill in voids that otherwise can't be replicated in a computer game. In person, you notice things that give cues or hints, even subtle, that give you a feeling of their ability. It can't be replicate in-game, so the "examine" kinda helps in that way.

Thats is very curious... I have not witnessed this at all so far. I do know from time to time that this particular behavior may come about on the server, but please before a complaint is posted, ask yourself if it is not IC for them to act as such?

Sometimes, what can be percieved as elitism is more or less an IC personality of the PC. It is a bit implausible for every high level character or any player to recognize and pay attention to everyone around them, which is not their responsibility and also OOC. The only responsiblity a PC has is too RP IC.

I can understand if you send them a friendly [tell] as an ooc
introduction or had a question and was rudely replied back too which in that case please PM a DM and we can have some means to follow-up.

I'd also issue a strong, strong warning about going down the path of "let's be nice to everyone, let's be cuddly and accepting and tolerant", because that's blatantly OOC behavior for a lot of PCs. We need elitism! We need snarikness! We need the willingness to sneer at others...

For the right reasons. IC reasons.

So, yeah. Oftentimes, a character will not acknowledge something, or someone, just because it didn't catch their attention, or because they can't emote fast enough, or because their character had no real reason to respond. But ignoring a character just because they con as "effortless" or "easy" is dumb.

If they do it oocly just to just be rude then I can see where it could be a problem but. There arnt that many "high levels" in here. Those high levels usualy dont take low ones places for the reason of they go s the low ones would die easly and wouldnt help the group. IVe done this before and it allways end up in me ressurecting someone. As for some "high levels" brushing off others, every time ive seen it, its been rp and for a reason, cant say ive ever seen a "high level" be a jerk oocly to someone yet.

Its kind of like how elfs are. Over all, they only like other elfs, sun elfs especially. They act like everyone else is crap and they are wonderful. Its good to see it from a ooc stand point, has good rp. If they do it, im sure other races and people would be like that to.

                    *holds up hand* usually me

If Nif brushes of someone I think is new to a server I usually send a tell saying hello just to make sure they know its RP. It can be a bit daunting starting up on PW at times.

I don't think the high levels brush off low-levels because of level difference, I think they brush them off for RP because they aren't their friends (Yet). I mean, if I am level 3 and I levelled to 9 with my buddies I've met IC, there's always a small akwardness to new faces. Small talk, etc, that ends up with silence.

Enforcing your personalities where you can helps a bit for RP. If I'm a snop, I blatantly make snobby remarks to other players have RP to work with. If I'm kind hearted, I invent stories of helping people or look for people to help in order to help RP. Otherwise it ends up like an elevator ride. Someone walks in, you say hello, small talk about news, then walk away. Knowing nothing more of the guy who just rode with you in the elevator than you did before.

Give people something to work with. The quiet people who just stare at people or just emote from outside the circle will likely be outside the circle for most of their time on the server. Think about a few quirks your character might have that will encourage people to interact with him/her instead of relying on others to come to you. Results will be 10x better.

As a DM though, I get to interact with alot of new players more, which is great ^_^

I have no problem with the CR ratings and being able to see them. Come on, if you have been around at least a little bit and adventured a bit, you should be able to form a clue as to how strong a certain person is, just by the way they hold themselves, the equipment they have, and they way the talk or act. You may not be exact and yes, sometimes there are posers that you may think are powerful but are just PX rangers that haven't seen a day of fighting, but those should be rare.

I also use the right click to make sure of the persons race, because for some reason, i can't always tell by just looking at the characters face (some faces look a lot like elves). I do this because I am an elf and it means a big difference to me if the character is an elf or a human. Now, if they are wearing a helm and I can't see their face, then I may not be able to tell, but probably would anyway because of their shape and size. So, for me the RP a lot of times depends on what race the character is.

Maybe my graphics card is a bit fuzzy and everyone else can see exactly what race they are, whether human or elf, but especially the women faces, some of them could go both ways IMO.

And, for higher levels to ignore you, well, if you are a young adventurer showing up at a campfire and nobody knows you, then yes, you would probably be ignored, at least for awhile, because nobody knows you and they are probably already in conversation with their buds. It is natural.

Ehrm.... Zel likes to ignore some people now, when shes busy conversing with others, but i'll atleast put in a *Ignores her surroundings, conversing with (Char.)* And Threatening and bullying lower level PCs with their levels? As long as its IC and not metagamish.. I don't really see what you mean by that.

Well it is all a matter of how intimidating a person might appear.
A level 4 character could look way scarier than a level 20 given the right looks and gear.

I participated in one event so far. I got a hello and a quick chat from a DM, which was cool. On the other hand, I RP'ed my Broken One, healed folks in battle, even complete strangers (which is very IC for Brother Ernest), and tried having some conversations (even with some PCs I had already met once). No one responded.

                              I was really bummed.
