How is the reimbursement going to be handled?

Are players going to be given full rebuilds to their previous (Some epic) levels?

Will it be more like the current retirement setup, where people get a bonus stat, item, and some XP depending on what level their main PC was prior?

Or is everyone just going to be starting fresh for now?

I think it was still dependent on if, indeed, a wipe helped the rep-issue to begin with.

For the test-wipe, I think that giving some amount of rep to test would be optimal, since it will take a bit to accrue enough to make a difference otherwise.

Do you guys watch "Dr. Who"? Remember when a couple seasons back they had some massive retcon style stuff because he got, in his own words, too big? That idea is a part of the consideration in the vault wipe. Our plots have had to get bigger and more convoluted to adjust for all the epic characters. This is a common theme in persistent entertainment. For example, go watch the later seasons of Stargate: SG-1 and see how badly they stretched for new baddies after Earth basically won everything. It got silly.

I say this not to be condescending and not to say everything is etched in stone at the moment, but to highlight that part of the appeal of a vault wipe is to get back to a simpler time. As such, we are not really considering giving everyone back full character levels at the moment. The exact retirement rewards are still up in the air right now, but we'll get you something. Again, as Kit said, this all hinges on IF a vault wipe fixes the rep issue and IF the staff decides that it is in the best interest of the server going forward.

Requiem, this is entirely fine by me. A set to basic was actually what I was hoping for out of the wipe for all the very reasons you posted (Which I touched on in the other thread a couple weeks ago).

It was just a question I had that I figured I'd post so these forums show some activity.

Glad to hear it Kasso! I just wanted to explain very thoroughly some of the thought process going on behind the scenes (as it were) because a few people have posted about getting their characters remade post wipe and getting all their xp back and what not. I hope this made it a bit clearer exactly what that would entail for anyone who was a bit confused on what would happen.

Yes, I was under the impression that select (current) character would get exported/imported.

Now my understanding is that we are looking at a "day-1" scenario. With perhaps a few XP/Rep points given to newly created characters.

Is my new understanding correct?

(Of course it depends on IF the wipe works)

Yes, you'd be looking at brand-new characters. The point would be to declutter the snarled story threads, eliminate old items, and have everyone move forward from the same starting point.

And my question about the wipe. Would the staff be pushing for not just "starting at level 1" but new characters entirely? Because I've seen wipes like this before where most people just remake their pre-wipe characters and continue where RP left off and that seems from what I've been understanding not the intention, though I could be wrong, as that would not help "declutter snarled story threads" at all.

When we wipe, we'll also be moving the timeline forward, precluding the remake of existing characters.

How far in the time line are we talking about here? Will characters with long life span still be alive? What about unfortunate characters who got petrified in the past then unpetrified in the current timeline and the reason for their level 1swordsmanship is because they are rusty?

The idea will be to erase all the characters, completely. So for most human/gnomish/ half elf PCs, they'll be far past their adventuring prime if they're even alive.

Some characters would technically, feasibly be alive. Those characters will either (a) be installed in some NPC capacity, (b) have left Sundren, never to return, or (c) have met an untimely demise.
