See, that reminds me of being in Japan (and no, this is not about to devolve into hentai level tentacle love). I went to a Ramen shop who's menu was quite literally a vending machine. You purchased the ticket for the type of ramen you wanted from the machine, took it into the shop, handed it to the guy at the counter, and that's what you were given. Saved a bunch on language barrier issues.

Very likely the same concept here. You, the poor downtrodden traveler from a distant land, only have enough for so much. So you look over your options, lay down your coin, and point to the "handy" token, since you can't say "I want a handy" in the native tongue. Take your token to the nice lady upstairs, and communication barriers are not an issue.

The coins are a pretty cool idea, though I've seen the menu laid out in a simpler way.

Took a drive down to Pompeii last year and amongst the other stuff had a look around the large brothel there (the Lupanare), they took the same sort of approach as the coins, each room had a little diagram of of tricks to be turned above the doorway. Like a pick your own sweet bar but with worse less clothes.

Pompeii and Japan have both provided me with a lot of amusement this year, because of porn!

The British Museum put on a show about Pompeii this year (it was awesome, Pompeii itself is great to visit but so many of the objects have been removed you've either got to brave the insanity of Naples or miss out), some truly phenomenal exhibits including the infamous Pan making love to a goat statue (google it yourselves, I'm not linking). Then last month in the same museum there was en exhibit of Japanese and Chinese Shunga (essentially 300 years of pornographic drawings and illustrations, including some octo-luvin).

Damn amusing to see so many middle aged to older folks peering closely at porn and commenting sagely on various attributes "you'd never expect such detailed pubic hair" was my fave overheard comment of the day.

Good finds, all around Doubt. Whilst I was bored at work the other night, I was thinking about employees having a coin-token with the engraving of a whispering lady on it to show their affiliation during any services that would normally take place in a festhall that are able to be role played without violating established guidelines ^_^
