This accurately depicts Xaayne's encounters with vampires:

Paladins, clerics, and as I've recently found out, dwarven defenders, are capable of defeating us.

Well I hate to necro an old thread but I was looking for information and this thread seems to be, at lease originally, the place to ask.

            The wiki states:
"Vampires cannot tolerate the strong odor of garlic and will not enter an area laced with it. Similarly, they recoil from a mirror or a strongly presented holy symbol."

Ok, does the holy symbol need to be of a a good-ish deity? Or would the holy symbol of Bane (or like evil-ish deity) work?

Would a symbol on a shield constitute "strongly presented" or does it require one to hold and make comments on? (thinking about getting a triad tat on the neck).

Does the non-vamp player need to worship the god who's symbol they are using?

Elandra: A former Red Blade, now roams the wilderness with the Lone wolf as her guide
Alexandra: Ever faithful (just shy of a Zealot)
Yodglum: May Kossuth's flame light your way and burn those in it!
Ash: Dusty old miner of still looking for the "mother load" on Exigo's stag

Shaving kittens: not an official sport, but fun just the same

It seems like the wiki might be incorrect. On Sundren, vampires find the smell of garlic repulsive, but it does not actively repel them. As to holy symbols, they only have an effect in the hands of a cleric (or other turning class) that has the power to actually turn / command them.

I know you just said a turning class like cleric or pally, but just to clarify. Heartwarder's, Ice furies, storm lords, and other "divine chosen" like that, that do not cross class with cleric or pally, can not hold off vampires with their holy symbol? For example: bard/ heartwarder, sorceror ice fury, druid/ storm lord.

I would either go with "those that can turn" or "Divine with deity" (sorry godless druid/spirit shaman)

Just my two cents. Either way, knowing the rules is more important than debating them.

I know you just said a turning class, but ...
I said exactly what I meant. If your character doesn't possess the mechanical power to turn undead, then it will not find a holy symbol useful for propelling undead.

I've got a toon that I've wanted to make a vampire for a long time now on another server.. I might just migrate him over here and start anew. Also did I read that right, werewolves are IG now as well? *fanboy squeel*

Werewolves were taken out a little after they were released. There was a problem with the class where it would make everyone else werewolves around the original person and you couldn't change form, or something like that. Other than that on the wiki everything else should be accurate on the locked classes that need character request.

Does anybody still have an actual in-game copy of the Vampire Pamphlet ("Vamphlet") written by *cough* Sassy Rockpockets?

I believe it was subtitled "Suck on This!", yes.

It'd be nice to know that at least one copy is still floating about

I've been trying to get NWN2 up and running so I can drop by and play a little, but my SoZ disc is scratched and won't install. Sadface.
