Larani was there from the start. Alex had some complicated fascinating medical reason for why the skeleton was there. However, he was being told that it would be best to dismiss the skeleton. This discussion was going on for a short time when Ithil became more insistent on removal of the skeleton and attacked the skeleton....

What Itil states is exactly true... the undead creature was attacked and the necromancer jumped in to defend it, thus attacking another living being. Tass jumped on Alex and Torgrim helped out to ensure Tass was not killed while fighting Alex.

Several bystanders of some reputation actually argued that the necromancer was justified in attacking Ithil since Ithil attacked the skeleton. Furthermore, they implied that Torgrim (and Tass) could be responsible for the death of Alex. As a Disciple of Helm.... NO WAY IN THE NINE HELLS was I having any of that LAME ARGUMENT!

A careful interpretation of the law and thought process is as follows. Summoning of undead is an illegal act. The undead was attacked but the Necromancer was in absolutely no danger, perceived or otherwise since Ithil made it quite clear that he was only acting against the undead and not Alex. At this point, it is a civil matter - mere property damage at best, athough that would be laughed out of any Sundren court.... "You broke my skeleton!" I doubt that Alex would be awarded damages. HOWEVER, when the Necromancer attacked Ithil in defense of the skeleton, that is when a criminal violation occurred - assault, attempted murder, murder.

I suspect that nearly all there were Hostile on Alex by that time... there just was not enough of Alex to go around. He was history. Tass had intervened in defense of Ithil. Torgrim had intervened in defense of Tass. Clearly, this would be ruled justifiable homicide. I am not making a ruling on this matter and my report can be submitted to the proper authorities if need be.

I assured Torgrim that he need not worry... he had done no wrong. I discussed with Torgrim how ironic it is that Torgrim, previously a bad boy in trouble with the law, had become an instrument of the law... acting within the law to uphold the law. We chuckled about that.

This encounter was RP'd to the end, as much discussion ensued while Alex lay dead for a long time. Eventually, Alex was raised by a newcomer to the area. The next time will likely be different. This whole encounter was rather... fascinating. I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you all for participating.
