You'd be amazed how many people find time in the day to post in help "THERE'S TOO MANY XYZ!" when ECL is wide open.

I have voted in the RPotM process but the winners were rarely known to me unless they were repeat winners [after a year]. This contest favors specific time zones where the player population is high. Nevertheless, I would like to see it return.

I was fortunate enough to win a bio contest and roll up an ECL. I would like to see the bio contests return. I would recommend however that the staff announce after the conclusion of each bio contest what ECL(s) remain closed. After a couple of months it got boring reading Aasimar Paladin builds.

        Cheers!

We have been discussing RPotM on the staff side and it looks like all restricted classes and races may become open application only. We are still interested in hearing player opinions and suggestions on RPotM, especially with the influx of new players.

Would people still be interested in RPotM if it did not reward locked races and classes but just custom items, xp, and/or faction bonuses?

I like Atmosphere's idea - I think all classes should just be an application! As far as the latter (Bonus XP, Faction Reward, Custom item) I think that'll be fine. As long as it's fair in some way, not just a popularity contest. Perhaps a vote where they have to chose three or four people, not just one?

I don't really think RPoTM is a good idea for many of the reasons already stated.

I liked the application process better. I had to write a story to get my warlock back in the day. Also, Role Player of the Month missed some really excellent role players, especially those who were on only a few hours a day.

What about not allowing back to back winners, or excluding previous winners for a short period of thyme? Maybe 3 - 6 months or so in an effort to spread around the love and keep it from being all about the same handful of players...

I am curious about your bio program. I would like to play an ELC race and I do like to write. The problem is, I am not the best writer. I read the wiki on your bio program and rather hoped you might give a few pointers on what you prefer to see for these submissions.

In the interest of staying on topic I will say after having read your RPOTM policy, I think it is interesting. I will not say if I like it one way or the other however as I have not been here long.

The bio does not need to be super fancy. Typically, it's always good to have the backstory of your character, their goals and motivations, and any other pertinent information you may feel is necessary.

Under the roleplay section of the forums, there are the previous bio stories that have been submitted that you can reference if you wish to. Here are a few links, though there are more if you need to look further:

As for the idea of rpotm to start up again, I'm pretty much indifferent to the idea. It might be good to try it for a bit due to the influx of all the new players who have joined, but there is also the worries about what Gamling brought up that has always been past worries with the whole system.
