Will we be reviving the Role Player of the Month voting again? There are a few characters/players I'd like to see get recognition and rewards for their efforts.

I agree, I think we should bring this back, if able. There were a few people back before my absenteeism that deserved to be recognized for their excellent role playing. We can axe if we want to, leave that sword behind. Because your friends don't axe, and if they don't axe then they're no friends of mine.

I don't like RPotM still. I think that too many great RPers have not been rewarded well in Sundren throughout history because of the system.
It's just a popularity contest and sometimes it's the least popular people that made me enjoy logging in. Sorry, I'll never high five an exclusivity system. I'm all for inclusive.Last edited by GodBeastX; 07-23-2013, 12:41 PM.

I agree with GBX but its also a way to reward players for playing. You don't become popular by sitting on the sidelines. Didn't we also alter rpotm to include a write up submissions of some sort? I'm down for stepping up and taking care of rpotm on the staff side."You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." - Robin Williams

I don't like the idea much either, but in a perfect world it would be great. I say to hell with the broken RPoTM, it never worked too well in the first place.
However, the main reason to want the 'nod' is to unlock an ECL. With things as they are, why not have an RP submission this month where 1 lucky player can get an ECL unlock? Format to be determined. As well as a minimum amount of submissions. I'd like to see at least 3-4."Now I know the full power of evil. It makes ugliness seem beautiful and goodness seem ugly and weak." -The Dance of Death

Maybe throw out the exp and faction bonuses - but I think the custom item appearance reward should be retained as well as ECL. Heck for some people a custom appearance item is more desirable than another character.Account Name: LuvHandles

Story submissions are nice, the problem is that after the initial month of doing it, no one ends up submitting stories.Olivia Kimaris - Paladin of Lathander and Knight of the Northern Watch

I don't want to speak for the entire staff but I'd think we be open to hearing what everybody thinks on rpotm. A dm can easily reward somebody for rping or doing something creative, neat, and fun during their events by dropping a blade here or what not. The rpotm seems more designed for the players to reward players with a vote and a reward. But server population numbers seem to have simmered down and old players are coming back instead of a having a load of fresh faces from time to time. This also means the percent of those rewarded is a bit off/higher than originally anticipated at sundren's launch or its peak. Instead of a 2 out of 100 players being rewarded monthly, we have 2 out of 20 active and loyal players. So, a locked and unique character walking around is not so rare anymore.
I personally would like to see this come back with one to zero people winning monthly and only the first place winner seeing rewards. And one could win by either being voted in by their peers or writing up a solid character submission."You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." - Robin Williams

or there are people who do.. but noone else does, so after putting loads of effort into making a story you end up losing to some guy who shoehorned an old concept in as a mercy submission at the very last moment.. ~Cough~ Seheren ~Cough~
Until I can somehow magically discover, hitherto unknown, skills to make a nice looking sig pic to represent my main chrs -
I primarily play Ignus Pyre and Smithy

I would be cool with the winning player being able to choose an ECL or custom appearance. That is entirely acceptable. That gives another reason for a player to submit.
I think when players want to pat each other on the back (like they should, because this is a community that thrives on the support of others) we have the Kudos thread until a time when we can flesh out something better. Like Atmosphere said about himself, I don't speak for the entire staff in this, but that is how I see it.
I put forward that we could try a submission this month. No guarantee on it being monthly. In fact I would prefer it is done sparingly."Now I know the full power of evil. It makes ugliness seem beautiful and goodness seem ugly and weak." -The Dance of Death

If it's for ECLs, I'd rather just make a different system than RPotM.
It's a different game to me these days, and I'm less concerned with how many Drow or Tieflings are running around than how many people are just having fun
If tiefling population became a problem, I'd just have a Helmite holy purge IC.
