  • Feasible or Cheesable?

I think I read somewhere that Talos hides as one of the orc gods. It isn't public knowledge, but one of them actually IS Talos under a different guise and name. Can anyone confirm this, or am I mixing up my stories?

If this is the case, I was thinking of making a grey orc Stormlord. Does this sound feasible under the Arr Pee Police? or is it just a lame attempt by me to utilize the stat bonus and favored class?

Having a discussion regarding Talos with the DM team as we speak. Why wouldn't a god have multiple avatars and try to speak to multiple races. Deity system is a little weird anyway. Personally I am all for using the classes we have available in subtly different ways to increase our options for the betterment of Arr Pee.

Incidentally I do not know the god to which you refer, but it sounds feasible.

Does that mean I can play my Paladin of Bane? Totally into domination and control, but like in a good way.

Maybe he can be a Drow who's pissed at the way male drow get treated and he's all like "Fuck you! I'm more than a penis to be used and abused by you bitches" then Sune takes pity on him and makes him a paladin but he secret works for Bane because he likes a bit of order.
The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.

A quick hunt through Wiki articles seems to point at it being the other way around.

Talos is just an aspect of Gruumsh, rather than any Orcish god being an aspect of him. So he's effectively an Orcish god masquerading as a human one.

But that's 4th edition stuff anyway.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the idea of switching out deities when it comes to PRC's. I don't want to see requests for Dreadmasters of Umberlee, Icefuries of Liira, Pink Wizards of Dalelands of any other of that sort of crap.

But if you can put together an inspiring bio or justification piece then maybe. So long as it doesn't go against the basic principles of the class.

Heh. That reminds me of the avatar trilogy, where Cyric poses as Tyr/Torm??? Loved it.

And it would be even funnier if it was Bane pretending to be Cyric pretending to be Torm...

Oh don't get me wrong - I'm not asking for funny class switches here. The orc would worship TALOS, not Gruumsh.

For me this all boiled down to the borders of Arr Pee acceptability:
              - Is a grey orc worshiping Talos too weird?
              - Is the Talos Gruumsh thing real in Forgotten Realms?
              - Could the Talos Gruumsh thing possibly be known to a character IN character?

It's real in forgotten realms as of the 4th Edition. It isn't known though, so no it's not going to be known by anyone ICly and it only seems to have come out through the spell plague.

As for a grey orc worshiping a human god, it's a bit twitchy but seeing the number of elven paladins of human gods etc that we have running around I don't see it as an insurmountable issue.

Right on. Sadly, it's routed in my attempt to get a dual wielding Stormlord. It's tough to do so with the feat and DEX requirements. I thought a grey orc would be a little more reasonable than a Wild Elf. I'll give it more thought, thanks for the input

Talos is Gruumsh, but no one knows that yet.

The general rule with the timeline is that unless the staff says there's a change in deities, there isn't.
                          Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.

                          [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

I'd say just make the character and role play him well, and ignore anyone who might get butt hurt over it.

I could see a Gray Orc following Talos much more than an Elf following Tyr. =P

Also my two cents - I think that much of the fourth addition lore is Silly. I mean come on ... would Tyr really kill Helm? Would he really fool himself into thinking that Helm stole Tyrmora's heart? I dunno, I believe Tyr - even if Cyric did have some role to play in this - would have seen through this deception.
