  • Poll - Lower Chance of Rain?

I hear it from people sometimes, it rains too much. There's a file with probabilities that takes two seconds to modify. But I want opinions before I decide.

    Weather, clear skies more often?

I've always noticed it more windy than rainy.. I'm always tempted to refer to the Valley as the Dustbowl.

If bad weather % becomes lowered, perhaps more steps could be made to make it feel 'real'? (i.e. - Lower skill checks, slower movement, higher rate of sickness/disease, ect.)

I think there was a really nice list in the 1st edition DM manual that covered all the negative effects of unfavorable weather..

I've always figured Sundren is a bit like Seattle: it's pretty nice, some 10% of the time, and rains the other 90%. Unless your living in a volcano, it seems like the 'character' of Sundren, to me.

I think the problem isn't so much how often it rains... I admit, it reminds me of home too, even if it seems like overkill in Sundren. I think I'd prefer the weather to change less frequently, longer stretches of the same weather will make it seem less overwhelmingly rainy. Having my character in her hood for a straight hour for rain, rather than putting it up and down every 10-15 minutes as the weather changes from rainy to windy to stormy to clear would work better.

Additional: Xalbrus also points out that the area of Sundren is very small, and frequently going between adjoining areas even will have different weather. If there was a way to normalize the weather across zonelines (like going from the Trade Tier to the Military Ward), this would also be a good step.

As far north as Sundren is.... maybe it should snow more instead.

Agreed, found a globe map of Toril and the approximation of the equator would be a little below the Jungles of Chult which would put sundren about the area of Jeuno Alaska.

I agree with this. Its not so much that its always raining, its that the weather changes too frequently (a consequence of game time being faster than real time i suppose, but its very noticeable from our perspective).

I like the rain. But I'd have to agree with others, that as far north as it is maybe it should snow more often.

Thirded. Perhaps have the weather change at the start of every ingame 'day' or something similar.

As for the snow: it should probably occur, but depending on ocean currents, it could still be pretty balmy if there was a Gulf Stream sort-of-thing.

IMO it rains too much and the weather changes too often. I would like to see it snow more, especially in Aquor.

Lower the chance of rain? Yes (how I voted). Tweaking a probability is not a big fix.

Consistency across areas and/or time? Nice, if they are only minor tweaks.

More snow? Nice idea but I think the tweaking would be much more significant in terms of development and installation logistics, especially for accumulation on the ground.
