    Hey folks,

With the update pending, the DM staff has decided to offer another possible alternative reward for the bio contest. I'd like to introduce four lesser noble houses:

    Pendraig
    Ulsteris
    Meriadoc
    Aurelianus

As well as expanded lore on:

    LaCroix
    Hellstrom

The staff has tentatively decided to allow players to play one of these noble PC's (the lesser houses) as an alternative package to winning the bio contest.

Why make one, you ask? Noble PC's will receive an accelerated startup (level 5), a custom magical item or two, and extra gold on startup. They also will be exempt from minor laws due to their houses influence, and have more sway with whatever faction they choose to join.

Now, this all sounds very nice, I'm sure. But it's hardly reason to make a noble PC your main one. In fact, it'd probably just be a nice distraction for a short time. That's why noble PC's will be able to participate in a competition amongst Sundren's elite, the Regent's Throne. This competition will be a roll based mini-game that takes place once a month (every week) between the houses where common PC's can fill roles as henchmen and the nobility deal, lie, cheat, and stab their way to the top. The prize? The Regent's Throne, power, and wealth being added to your house and real effects taking place in the game world.

The house bio's may look a little sparse, but that's where you come in! When you guys start competing in the Regent's Throne and in general be the nobles that you want to be, those wiki pages will fill up quick!

Also, I'd like to offer a noble PC to anyone who is able to make the house crests and post them to the wiki.

    Can we use "Brandybuck Meriadoc"?

I like Paddy Pendraig... or Pádraic Pendraig if you like.
        Cheers!

The same goes for anyone trying Arthur Pendraig.

Come on, if you make a house named Pendraig and then you make a dragon part of their lore, you are begging for arthurian references.

Please keep in mind, except for one or two possibilities, the nobles will be humans.

Damn. That is good to know... even though it was expected.

References, yes.. Subtle ones are always good fun, particuarly if you're going the Paladin route, the whole grail-knight thing (though, to be honest I always appreciate a bit more of a nod toward Charlemagne or the Italian greats over straight old Knight of the Round Table).

Naming a character after a principle character isn't a decent reference, it's the character crafting version of Epic Movie.

Also remember, while the houses may have certain leanings, it's hardly dead set into alignments. Any alignment can easily fit into any house.

Bah, they are nobles. Lawful evil the lot of them!

Sounds like they will be if mostly evil characters are submitted and approved.

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.

This better not be turning into some Game of Thrones action. If so it just wouldn't do to be without a rejected son affected by dwarfism for one of the houses.

Never read it or seen more than a few confused minutes on tv... It's set somewhere cold with Mongol dudes and a dwarf who loves boobies, right?

Costume design seemed nice (apart from some WTF shitty shoulderpads on a blonde kid).

The books are good. If you don't watch the whole TV show it will move too fast for things to be picked up on.
