Alright *grumble* It'll give me a chance to test an idea for retexturing stuff anyway..

Let's work on a list of known glitchy/broken stuff or stuff that could do with new textures (lets try to avoid armour retextures, they're a lot of work) , I've had a quick look through the model viewer but that doesn't show up a lot of problems, especially models that bleed at a distance (IE: crappy middle/far distance models). Screenshots of the model and the problems will be a real help!

    Requests and stuff so far:

    Fixes:
Model for 'Shield of the broken god' - it's upside down and has a terrible texture.
Red Knight Shield - Missing panel on rear, could do with a new texture.
Winged shield in Triad - Ugly texture.
One of the cartoon elf heads - leaky ears at mid/long range.
A bow (need to verify which one) - attachment point needs adjusting
Bird model - Make it fly

    New stuff:
Non evil helms - Plumed and unplumed Sallet, both with visor up and down (4 models)
Blackwood - Planed overhaul of Exigo equipment. Large project, new armour, helms, weapons and backpacks, cloaks and logo.
Roman Legion armour - Large project, new armour and helms. Was 50% done, now restarted.
Cloaks, scarves and cold weather gear
    New sheilds (Low priority)
Slaag model (Slaad? I could repurpose my lizardfolk for that, it's got that outsider edge)
Bigswords, smallspears, funky hammers and polearms

We have some brilliant shield models that aren't being used and some hilarious ones. Once I can get back in game someone is going to get a flying unicorn shield whether they want it or not.

Technical question - Will a new .hak containing the modified/fixed models overwrite the previous ones, or will I need to make a brand new .hak with new item numbers and update the blueprints, or should I update the existing .haks which could create compatibility problems for those people who play on multiple servers that use the same .haks as us?

The Helm store could use an overhaul. It is rather understocked with regard to the same items listed for Blackwood.

This is good, but not what he was looking for I think. New models is the open request.
To be a little clearer I'm after 3d things - I set aside 30mins to an hour to warm up in zbrush, I'm after ideas I can do in one or two sessions.
This is correct - It's new models rather than in-game tweaks!

It's not the store I'm overhauling but the appearances of items - the idea is to create a distinct visual identity for some of the factions, starting with the Legion then Exicorp/Blackwood, giving them an appearance that's unique to this server (I'm not planning on putting the .haks on the vault).

Further down the road I'll hopefully work on doing the same for other factions - I've got some nice ideas for the Wrath of Nature and I'd love to do a few sets of full plate as black or painted harnesses rather than the ****ing horrible shiny steel. A nice set of brigadine or a jack of plate would be good as well (and well suited to our commandos of fun, the Red Blades).

Back from a few days in Blighty, fun times.

I managed to add a great book on arms and armour to my collection - Masterpeices of European Arms and Armour Pretty durn good, though just focused on the one collection. Fantastic reference stuff though, very inspiring.

Who fancies going into battle with a large cock in their face?

... oh, the responses I want to make to that but cannot due to some inborn sense of political correctness on a public forum.

Edit: Are we now charging hard into battle to delve within the murky depths of the great unknown?

Models are the things you see in game. 3D representations of all sorts of things. Characters, equipment (helms, weapons, etc) monsters, everything that is represented by a 3D image ingame was "modeled."

Think of when you were a kid and you got a bunch of plastic parts and built them into a plane or a tank then painted it and hung it in your room. I think it was called modeling.

This is the same thing but in a digital interface.

If you want to know more.

How about some female armor that actually protects (read: covers) the heart and lungs?

The stomach is a more critical area for protection, there are quite a few armours that leave the chest area less protected than the gut.

That said, it's a relative thing. You'd still expect chain and padding over the chest with extra plates over the gut, not some chainmail beachwear.

All the armour I've got on the todo list is of a practical rather than fantastical nature. Apart from the umberleean one. That's pretty fantastical.

I take it you've had a look through the other armours in the .haks? There are some truly terrible ones out there. Terrible armours to go with the terrible armour rules.

Some of those "armors" aren't even meshed to the shape of the default form, so the hands don't line up with the arms. Looks like they ripped it out of another game and didn't fix the bones. Oh, wait, I think that's exactly what they did.

What is really sad is when a set of armor looks really cool and functional on a male, but not at all on a female, like set 160 in the crafting of plate (or 159 full plate in the toolset).

Outside of that, I'd like to see more armors that actually work with the thigh pieces. Most of them clip terribly. This is more evident on the female ones, but the male ones have the problem too.

Yes there is a will save to dispell it. I remember when Tarangil used to use it to screen the archers on veritas mountain ~ they occasionally made the save and dispelled it; shooting straight through.

On additions I think some of the armour could have a little more practical design. perhaps plate or chain uppers and vambraces and then lacqered chitin or padded cloth for the lowers. like the samurai or medievil squires used to dress in. The full armour templars used to wear must have lent them horrid mobility ~ I bet they could barely swing a sword in that gear (Not that they were expected to as heavy lance cavalry, but what happens if they get unmounted?).

*edit* Look at Tirion's wiki pic for an example of what I mean. Even if he does look like a chick!
