I have attempted, but failed, to convince various friends that Sundren is a good place to RP. I still strongly believe Sundren is a good place to RP. Thus I want to give the server a serious attempt - but will have to go solo in terms of real world contacts.
My problem is that I have a couple characters at or around 6th lvl, but now I don't really know what to do with them because I am not aligned with any faction or group. I don't even know what places to grind beyond 6th even if I just wanted to solo-grind (which I don't find particularly appealing).
I have tried to RP and find a hook, but mostly I've found either (a) high lvl characters going about their own plots, or (b) a bunch of people hanging about a campfire discussing random nonsense. You try to RP with them, and they give you some good RP responses, but mostly it is to show off their character's various quirks, and not necessarily trying to pull anyone into any kind of larger plot. I guess I'm having a hard time "breaking in" because I don't have (m)any connections. I also don't have infinite time to wander about the server hoping that some group will happen to want to recruit me.
So maybe the thing to do is join a faction. Who's recruiting? I like to play mage-hybrids, but I don't find the Red Wizards appealing to my RP ideas. Mages are doubly difficult in terms of breaking in because they can't solo well. Are any factions out there, with active participation, looking for mages? I'd be willing to make a char from scratch to fill a niche.
I suppose my ideal would be to find a group that is relatively active, tries to meet on particular day(s) at particular time(s) (so I can set aside the time), and one that likes RP-ers over solo-ers/power-builders.
Summary: I think this server has serious potential, but don't have the time to play like its WOW 5 hours a day every day. I want to join a group and get in on a plot, but don't know how. Factions seem like the obvious way to go, who's recruiting?
Currently I'm using a dwarf, and may start a halfling. Thanks.
