Hey folks, now this may or may not go anywhere, but I was randomly looking through my old "Sent messages" list in my private meassage box for lack of anything better to do, and I found an old pm I sent to Saulus way back in 2007, it seems for some reason he had requested that I provide him with some information regarding 'Rebuke Undead'.
Now I dont know if evil clerics get Rebuke undead on Sundren, my main is a blackguard and as far as I am aware I get just regular turn undead, though I have never used it so I do not know for certain.
Anyway.. this is the message I sent Saulus all those years ago:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heres the info you wanted on evil clerics rebuking undead.
Turning table:
Turning check result: 0 or lower
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice): Clerics level -4
Turning check result: 1-3
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level -3
Turning check result: 4-6
Most Powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level -2
Turning check result: 7-9
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level -1
Turning check result: 10-12
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level
Turning check result: 13-15
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level +1
Turning check result: 16-18
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level +2
Turning check result: 19-21
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level +3
Turning check result: 22 or Higher
Most powerful Undead Affected (Max hit dice):
Cerics level +4
Turning/Rebuking Check:
The first thing you do is roll a turning check to see how powerful an undead creature you can turn. This is a charisma check (1d20 + Chr modifier)
Turning Damage:
If your roll on the turning table is high enough to let you turn/rebuke at least some of the undead within 60 feet, roll 2d6+ cleric level+ Chr mod for Turning/Rebuking damage. Thats how many total hit dice of undead you can turn.
Evil cleris channel negative energy to rebuke (awe) or command (control) undead rather than channeling positive energy to turn or destroy them. An evil cleric makes the equivalent of a turning check. Undead that would be turned are rebuked instead, and those that would be destroyed are commanded.
Rebuked: A rebuked undead creature cowers as if in awe (Attack rolls against the creature get a +2 bonus). Effect lasts 10 rounds.
Commanded: A commanded creature is under the mental control of the evil cleric. The cleric must take a standard action to give mental orders to a commanded undead. At any one time, the cleric may command any number of undead whose total hit dice do not exceed his level. He may voluntarily relinquish command on any commanded undead creature or creatures in order to command new ones.
Dispelling Turning: An evil cleric may channel negative energy to dispel a good clerics turning effect. The evil cleric makes a turning check as if attempting to rebuke the undead. If the turning check result is equal or greater than the turning check the good cleric rolled, then the undead are no longer turned. The evil cleric turning damage of 2d6+cleric level+Charisma modifier to see how many Hit Dice worth of Undead he can affect in this way (as if he was rebuking them)
Bolstering Undead: An evil cleric may also bolster undead creatures against turning in advance. He makes a turning check as if rebuking the undead, but the hit dice result becomes the undead creatures effective hit dice as far as turning is concerned (provided the result is higher than the creatures current hit dice). The bolstering lasts 10 rounds. An evil undead cleric can bolster himself in this manner.

I was quite intrigued by this message because firstly I dont remember ever knowing enough about game mechanics to have been able to bring up this information in the first place (I must have grabbed it from some kind of source book or something) and secondly because.. well I think the idea of evil rebuking undead instead of just turning/destroying them is great.
I hear alot of banter from the Paladins/undead slayers about how they can cream the servers dwindling vampiric population as though such creatures were nothing more than goblins. Comments such as "I just hit etheral jaunt and then turn/smite until the vamp is dust" etc. are quite common place, and in all truth, thats fair enough, if a character has tailored themselves to become an undead slaying maniac then more power to them.
However if a true evil divine caster should have the ability to bolster undead entities to help resist such things as Turn undead then I personally think it would be great if they were able to do so.
Of course this might already be a natural feature of an evil divine classes 'turn undead' ability.. in which case this entire post is moot.
Still i'm pretty bored so I Thought I would throw all of this up here anyways.
Cheers!
