Where as it may be a bit of power building but certain classes are laughable without the extra stats. Sorry I grew up where Id roll dice for stats. Granted this tends to make "OP" characters. It gives you more flexibility as a character. I am a huge fan of Flexibility.

      He was right, too.

Ill agree that some classes are kinda stretched for stats but they usually make up for it in abilities ~ Why anyone would take a spirit shaman over a druid or nature cleric is beyond me though!?

Because Spirit Shamans are pretty awesome.

My theory on why there hasn't been a RPotM for the past few months is because whoever the last mysterious yet handsome RPotM is, his superp role play and charming personality set the standards too high for the RPotM award. By setting those high standards, everyone decided it was futile to match his superior RP and ultimately stopped doing the RPotM thing.

But on a more serious note. I think the RPotM award can continue if a DM would step up and start taking votes via PM. I don't anyone would be opposed to that if he/she did.

My theory is that it's as GBX (and roguethree) said:
                - Votes got tallied by hand and it's a massive pain in the A.

                Repair our votey-thingy, pl0x!

Well, just remember to count all of my zero votes twice cause either way if you multiply it by zero I will still have the same amount! ^_^

Ill vote for you Mournas! (and it will get multiplied by zero, giving you a grand total of zero)

I vote for Dain and Kaizen this month.

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.

Once again another thread gets de-railed by random tangents.

Allow me to attempt to get the topic back on course.

If the roleplay of the month award is not getting run simply because noone can be arsed to count all of the ballots then remove roleplayer of the month from the Wiki and the forums, from there either make all races selectable from the character creation option or make them request via the character request forum as it used to be on Sundren.

I personally would enjoy the chance to play a character concept that is a little different from the norm. I have a few ideas floating around in my head but those ideas will likely never see the light of day as long as this stalemate concerning RpotM carries on.

Besides people have made mention to the fact that the current scheme can seem like a popularity contest, and to be honest if I ever won roleplayer of the month I would hate for my achievement to be looked down upon as "Well he kissed the most arse obviously"

Bring back the old method of approving ecl races, by which a player can submit a full character bio with history for the character they wish to have accepted on the server. Then the dm's can look the application over and discuss amongst themselves the merits of the individual player rather than waiting for a majority vote from the player base.

This also allows those player who might normally log in when there is only a very small server population online to have a chance at playing something that the otherwise restrictive method would prohibit.

Besides the RpotM system is flawed anyway. The rules state that a winner cannot win for another year?

Even if the system worked perfectly and was not seen as a glorified popularity contest, the fact you can only win once a year defeats the whole idea of encouraging roleplay and personal growth. To me its like saying "You have had your 10 minutes of fame, now go and sit over there in the corner"

If any thing the current system endorses a popularity contest ideal, encouraging a player to try and win as many votes as they can to get a one time reward and then thats it. Game over you won the 1st place prize, you dont need to rp well anymore because you are locked out for a year.

So yeah, went on a little longer than originally intended here. But my point still remains, bring back a fairer system for judging the contributions of individual community members, regardless of when they are most active, reward those who play when only 2 or 3 others are online as well as those who are on during busier periods.

Revert to ecl character submissions via the character request forum, this allows the task of approving chrs to be split between the entire dm team, rather than 1 dm who has to slave away counting votes.
Until I can somehow magically discover, hitherto unknown, skills to make a nice looking sig pic to represent my main chrs -

I primarily play Ignus Pyre and Smithy
