  • Expensive gear for barbarians?

I was just wondering why items are so bloody expensive for the purpose they serve.
Take the Barbarian gear..20K for a fur cloak made uniquely for a level 5 Barbarian..
Forget about even getting one give the time that would take to yield that much gold.
I would not even consider that before level 10 considering the other things the Barbarian needs..
I understand the Purpose of Rp but i think it sucks that the Barbarian has no distinct look and is stuck in vanilla gear till he can grind enough cash to get what he needs and wants.
can something be done about the Prices?

The barbarian store is high end gear, meant for end level barbarians that have invested enough class level and time into their PC.

Those items are equal to, if not better, than most faction stores.

The level (5/10/15) is to stop people from dipping 1 barbarian/12fighter/7 weapon master or any other combination and getting the benefits of armor that was solely created for that class.

Trust me, that store is a great thing.

Prices are based on the properties of the items. I believe the prices of the stuff in the shops were actually reduced some already.

See i never got that dipping just to get an item.
a class to me ain't just about skills but a way of Life.
Most of my chars are mix and 2 are pure vanilla.
now of course i would love to get my hands on a prestige class if it was available but i would rather believe that every class is a prestige class of its own
and the player gives the character meaning and purpose.

now i feel i walked away from the topic..
what i was saying is that i don't want the items or the store to go away.
but i was under the impression that for someone that RP a full blown level 5 barbarian, should be in title to an item of its caliber at a reasonable price.
other factions have em and excel given the right notoriety prestige and such.
anyway what ever i'm talking about really matter little in the end if the class is unplayable..i,ll just take another class and scrap it all together because thats what really happens in the end.
but anyway even given the outcome i mean they could always give vanilla gear for barbarian that look better for a little bit more.
Round shield. Viking look armor or helms,Crooked jagged Weapons etc etc..
on that note blah i'll see you in another world.

No kidding! Those dirty bastards who dip in one other class for cheesy benefits. The nerve of some people.

Item values are set by their properties automatically. If you make the items in the toolset, it generates its worth based on what magical characteristics you give it. You can adjust the price from there manually, and I can assure you that every item in that store is adjusted down already (some pretty significantly).

Some custom made armours can provide a barbarian "look", a lot cheaper than 20k.

                      Yep my barbarian has some.

Though I fully agree that the prices in the store are steep. Now if these were items meant for all, then the prices are more then fair. However, these items are meant for a slightly less viable class on this server. A Full barbarian will never quite stack up to even the full fighter on most occasions, and this is no different when fighting Mobs. Mobs being nearly the only way for one to make gold, having such high prices will send this gear beyond the means of most Barbarians indefinately.

Now they shouldn't be too cheap, I do not think it wrong if the prices went as follows: teir one armor 9-10k, second tier armor 20-24k, top tier 50-60k. This pricing would easily put it out of the reach of a casual buy. To a barbarian 50k worth of saving could easily take months. Think of it in the eyes of a class that throws AC aside for a rage filled skull bashing fest. Against the mobs that will give it the money to afford this gear, a barbarian can be hard pressed to find success. Remember, barbarians are hardly equal to the Clerics and their like in combat, and even less so in saving potential.

Maybe the Staff could just look into lowering the prices there a little. Maybe not nearly as drastically as I suggest, but enough so that I can hope to own some of that wonderful, wonderful, gear in the future. Besides the price shock, I was in wonder shock at that store. It is quite awesome.

Our Favorite Genie, I mean CG Drow, had a single level of barb in some incarnations. They had to justify the flash in those lavender eyes somehow.

It shouldn't be a problem after the encounters gets rebalanced post resting/death changes.

Barbarians can actually get away with quite alot if you have a spellcaster to give you some concealment or the like. The thing to remember is the rage isnt for when times are tough, its for when enemies are easy (lower AC) and you want to make short work of them to give yourself a better chance at the boss!

Its better to leave the tough enemies to the clerics/druids and just mop up the rest of the enemies so the casters can save their precious spells for the main event :S
