Yes, by all means a fighter or Barbarian can be quite a force fully buffed. The problem is that is often not possible. Should be less of a problem soon it seems, so just need to wait it out.

Way I see, it's going to go one of two ways:

Either casters start teaming up with mundanes, partying up and working as a unit rather than a group of people soloing in the same direction, and world peace breaks out...

      Or...

Casters continue using all their spells on themselves and taking a frontliner role still, with the back line reserved for arcane archers, blaster-wizards, and full-plate fighters who can't survive at the front.
Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! And she gives a mighty bellow:
"Brace yourself, oh human speck of dust! You are made of meat and I am very hungry!"

Wouldn't it be magic if all those buffy spells lasted a round/level when cast on yourself, or a min/level when cast on others...

You could tank, briefly, or you could party hard.

        *needlessly controversial*

Anyway, the nature of things is going to change with the rebalancing, so lets be positive and re-assess after that.
It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

Yes it would be magic worth having, that! If something like that could be made to work I personally would be all for it!
