Let's move beyond this.

i set you to hostile and was killed before any other action, but this was not the first or last time something like it happened. still it was the most RP that i got out of any of them times.

Having been around long enough to see this myself, many many times over, I absolutely agree with you that is one of the most mind-blowingly annoying things to put up with.
In my experience, most of those little groups are compromised mostly of elitists that prefer to work in a small circle of a faction, and interact with anything outside of it only at their own pace and choosing.

However, I think it's safe to say, you don't have to worry about that right now.
If you decide to never turn on searchable again when Sundren is booming with players, I could live with that.
But right now, on average, I see five people online at what used to be the high time.
And from having played with the irregular five to eight over the last few weeks, I can guarantee they're very open to roleplay wherever it may come from.

Fortunately, as Root said, it seems the majority or at least a fair portion has adopted leaving the searchable on.
No reason not to continue until a legion of level 20 of each faction reappears hunting little priestesses.

The ganking-factioneers was a past concern, but I hear little of recent occurances of them. Seems they've left and we can all get out of the bunker now, and rejoice in merryment.

It's a fine sentiment you are putting forward, Root. I leave my searchable on all the time (although, admittedly, I have had very little experience with faction shenanigans and no experience with PvP on Sundren).

Hopefully it's served to make a few more players less shy about sharing their presence with that those of us desperate for some player interaction.

For those who have had some negative experiences in the past, I can understand your reluctance to have a repeated experience. We invest a lot of time in developing our pcs and it is very disheartening to feel as though hours (even days) were just lost due to someone's inconsiderate actions.

As for the cliques, well I can't comment, as I'm too new here and don't really get on during the peak hours everyone else does.

But if anyone's after some regular RP without worrying about cliques/elitism/being searchable feel free to look me up - change your playing times if you need to! Those of us on the other side of the planet get awful lonely when noone comes out to play LOL.

For those who have had some negative experiences in the past, I can understand your reluctance to have a repeated experience. We invest a lot of time in developing our pcs and it is very disheartening to feel as though hours (even days) were just lost due to someone's inconsiderate actions.

Nothing but time and stags are lost due to pvp. And you can avoid losing your stags by using the banking system. No xp is lost. Also, once somebody kills you, you have a 2 week sanctuary period from being killed from that said person again unless you are the aggressor, meaning they are allowed to defend themselves.

We're at a rebuilding point right now, a slump...and I think we need to pull together as a community to make a better experience for everyone, as opposed to being more insular individually, at a time like this.

I can't agree with Lilene more. Sometimes I go out of my way to RP with people and as of recent Lilene in particular. We need to work with the new people and make them feel welcome even those new to RP. I know for sure that Lilene is far more skilled than I at RP and she bears with me all the time and is always willing to. Whats this search function on/off thingo? where is it on the gui. I never heard of it until now. What does it do? It sounds like it shows people eh color of your underpants.

Sounds fun though!! if i turn it on it annoys half the people and if i turn it off it annoys half the people. *joke*

Sounds great that i might get gimped by someone if i am in their faction area messing with their homeboys. Just make it memorable and do it with style I say.

No ruling about it, just like there's no ruling about running obnoxiously past a group of folk to continue solo grinding, and no rule against hiding in your solo grinding spot until level 20 then going to murder people 'cause you're evil.

However it is a social derp and makes the server far less fun.

On a side note, nobody gets annoyed if you turn it on. People just seem to have the impression that turning it on will immediately cause a troop full of high level faction members that support the faction you're technically killing for XP to drop from the sky, murder you, find your children, and sell them into slavery, then cause your computer to explode via perfectly-timed spell effects causing your GPU to violently combust.
