There was, once upon a time. I imagine it created more headaches than anything. Maybe we should have a "Suggested Etiquette" section in the rules, something that offers guidelines to make the overall gameplay experience more cooperative that pricks can choose to ignore.Originally posted by CornutoGlad everyone's being extra fucking ridiculous today.

If someone wants to write up a nice 'Suggested Etiquette' piece then I'm sure we can sticky it for future use, if not add it to the wiki.
Alas, I'm to rude and obnoxious to pen anything on etiquette. It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

Some of it would be futile... Things like attempting to include people who are new to RP (instead of, say, ignoring them or actually calling them trolls, mutter mutter) are generally features of peoples' personality or playstyle more than due to ignorance.Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! I wholeheartedly concur... please be searchable. I am 95% of time and that other 5% of the time is when I am going to a location where I'm pretty sure folks who defend that area watch the "player search" and pop in right after me to kick me out of their turf. Frankly, I don't travel to those areas much any more.
...but if I do I'll remain searchable 100% of the time. I feel like I am missing a lot of RP when there are 12 people on I only know where 3 of them are and they are in places I cannot or do not usually go. It was particularly useful when I was a newer character to find folks to RP and hunt with.
Seems like over time, less and less folks are searchable.... meh...
May the road before you be cobbled with the skulls of your enemies!

Think I'm always searchable when I'm on and not in a faction area or Argyle (been attacked by people way higher than me just too many times up there to stay searchable in that place). I know I tend to forget to turn it back on sometimes after leaving a faction area from time to time, though.
Lately, I have spent over an hour just wandering around not finding anyone. With 7 or 8 players, no DMs, and 1 person other than myself searchable...I get bored very easily and just log off

I found the search functions etc. I noticed that if you are unsearchable you can still see where others are.
I thought it would be fair that if you make yourself unsearchable, it should disable your ability to look for others and have a cool down time before you can activate it again.
That way people who want to avoid heavy assault PVP death squads can monitor each others position and run away. But i can in writing that think of heaps of loopholes. Its just the nature of humans isn't it. Break the rules of engagement, gain the advantage.
However i am reminded of something from childhood ; its not whether you win or loose but rather how you play the game (i.e. that you're a good sport). I think they said that to all us hopeless kids to make us feel better.
Server etiquette guidelines sound smashing.

I didn't realize this but I definitely agree. If you are unsearchable, there should be a penalty where you can't search other folks.

Kinda feel like bumping this just to repeat the statements in it. Currently online with 8 people, searching brings up 2 results. Anyone feel like RP? At all? Maybe make yourself searchable so I can convenitently bump into wherever you are?Running across the mountains, attacking with an oversized scalpel, cometh Helga Great-Wyrm! Nope.
Prepare Locate Creature, buy scrolls from Eirimil, and hope that not everyone is chugging nondetection potions. I will never have searchable on on any character except by accident.Active
Reinamar Stormseeker - The bladestorm that must turn back the wind. Arkerym of The People, practitioner of the forgotten art, pariah.
Tyler Penleigh - Obligatory author insert, Red Blade Defender, sarcastic jerk, caring brother, loving fiancé, war criminal.

Eirimil Gaelazair (Dead)- Bitter. Caustic. Abrasive. Egocentric. Probably right. Found dead in the burned-out Viridale forest a few weeks after the survivors were able to sweep the area after the Bloodmaim offensive. Aside from his usual attire, an intricate music box was the only thing in his possession.

In a nutshell: Risk a 30 vitality loss once in a blue moon in order to make the server a better place with more RP and interaction.Originally posted by Root View PostAt least in Sundren, being killed by a random nutter is only temporary.
If you get found by some psycho char who kills you, meh, a respawn from PvP is cheap.
Risk a little of your character in the name of RP. In PvP, there is almost always an RP way out, but it might involve your character not acting like an invincible badass.
To those of you who are badass criminals/villains: if you suspect people of meta-hunting u then report it, they are the ones who should suffer not u. Having ur searchable switched off means no one ever gets to meet your cool super-villain characterUTC+8
Yes, I realise my RP writing sucks. Just be thankful I keep it short

I support the use of toggle searchable off. I'll even offer discounts for repeat customers who want to buy Locate Creature scrolls in bulk... as soon as it's made scribe-able.

I consider your plea and disregard it. I'm usually not searchable on Vala because I don't want anyone showing up and trying to be a hero just to be beaten ravenously. It's for your own protection folks."Was I your knight in shining armor? The apple of your eye? Or just a step, another step to climb?"

Now that sounds like a good idea. Personally I'm not worried about being meta-hunted because anyone stupid enough to hunt me deserves the vitality loss
