I don't think it's buffs that people hate, so much as selfish solo spellcasters. I have characters that are spellcasters with all sorts of buffs, but I never solo. I build my characters around buffing parties of people. Teamwork. Its fun. Trust me.

True That! But you have to take into accout the waning population of the server when you suggest that people build for partying up, there can be 12 people on and maybe two of them can actually party up due to lvl difference, alignment etc...

The solo builds are mostly prevelent to avoid standing around picking your nose at the fire, which there isnt a char build in existence that has a reason to do that...D&D is about adventure right?, not picking your nose

Sitting around chatting is what chat rooms are for

sitting around GAMING is what NWN2 is for

Personally I think the Dev staff is doing an awesome job, but the DM staff seems a little lazy as even when I played more often and found myself sitting around the fire a good deal I would see DM's log on and do nothing

Also I saw alot of the DM's focusing on particular Charachters in a very Clique-ish way, DM events are fun but not if your brushed off and ignored.

If I remember right the dispell traps are just a (non)creature casting Wall of Dispell Magic I dont know the DC on it but If it is stripping everything it needs to be toned down, but if I were everyone else I'd let this extremely talented yet personell limited DEV staff work on new things instead of tweaking old things, The more dungeons there are the more varied the places you can go will be and the whole Sundren experience will be much richer

IF you hate casters so much...Build a witchhunter and kille them on site...Buffers are fail at PvP if you dont let them spend 10 mins buffing

      IF you like Casters...build one

If you hate Melee Builds...light them on fire

This Aurguement has been done on this forum at least three times since I have played on this server and it always gets no-where

sooo....Suck it up and go stab someone

There is no way the Dev staff can make everyone happy with the dungeons they can only build more and design them to be easier for either the Tank/Caster/Sneak and harder for the Tank/Caster/Sneak

The more we hold them in one area the longer it will take for new and better things that will hopefully draw more population to the server

Arrows that dispel? does that mean that the belt i scrounged and saved 9000 gold is worth crap now? i can understand a trap that dispels but arrows?thats just wrong even a Arcane archer don't have that power. You know that reminds me of a server i knew back then when it was low magic like this one but more and more areas where made anti this or against that..the numbers got lower and lower..worse the game like most got older and soon enough before you know it..the server was down .
I don't want to bring doom..but there an old saying that says if it ain't broken why fix it? anyway i love your world i don't want it to fade away.
Like i said i really don't have any real say..hell i just started playing after so long.
if anything i only want the best positive outcome.
        Take care folks.

The truth is that, despite how unbalanced some things can be, people want options. The more you take away, the more you limit, the more people you lose and less interested people become. The goal shouldn't be to take things away, but merely nudge certain things in a better direction. Better is to offer more options to other classes, than to start cutting from the ones who already have lots of options.

Its true for my toons! I have only seen like four or five events in like six months.

              Comes down to accountability.
              - When are the events,
              - Who is the event for,
              - Who actually participated in the event?

I see DMs on all the time. Must be an exclusive thing. Lots of those that i have made friends with have left. They all said it was not the players.

I have to disagree with statements above. While I do not participate in a lot of events, it is because I do not make my characters available. If I ask for help, the DM's are always more then happy to assist me. I believe you make this game world what you want of it.

Agreeing with Redjack. I've never had a problem getting polite requests filled by whatever DM is online at the time If you're just expecting a DM to randomly throw together an event just for your character then keep waiting. That's what character requests are for.

I cannot personally speak to this point. I am "aware" of one DM event since I have begun playing on the server [~4 weeks]. There may have been countless others I am not aware of... I am hopeful that this is not true.

To this point I can speak from experience. I have to agree with both Redjack and Lothoir. When I have asked for help the DM online is always there to assist me.

I never once mentioned that the DM's would not give help in my previous statements and wouldnt dream of insinuating it. I pointed out that MOST of them direct their events toward a certain group of players...and I pointed out that I see the DM's logged on and they do nothing...granted I cant be everywhere but every non-mach event I have been involved in has started at the fire....I hate the fire...I hate chat rooms...but...I never once said DM's were not willing to help people do what they are trying to do

I was speaking of general events involving a large portion of the server...the main point of these events were(at least) targeted at a specific group

Also I was speaking of DM's logging on and not running an event, which is the main purpose of a DM, in game help is a side job

There is a section on the forums for help and char requests, personally if you're making a char specific request it is better to use the forums as it allows the DM staff to deliberate it

Also I play to build, test and develope charachters which requires no DM intervention or interference I AM NOT whining because the DM's dont pay attention to me, I am offering constructive critisism from my own viewpoint...mostly because I am tired of the caster v. melee aurguement since it can only go no-where

I would love it if more people would ask Mara for help. Such as buffing them or getting in a party to help. Just sayin.

balance will always be an issue with casters because casters can change the scope of abilities with their buffs above-and-beyond spell effects. I agree with your sentiments that the server could use some love for the other classes in magic item availability. Maybe a system that would allow them to make some magic items that would no longer require the "buff-bot" focus of some of the casters and allow them to use alternate abilities and use spells for other purposes. I'm not saying magic should be more available because i think the server has a good balance in the cost for some of the higher level magic, i just think it is very limited even in the recipes available aside from the mix of spells allowed to be applied to magic items. if the magic items system were a little more flexible, the casters would serve more purpose as magic item enchanters at a lower cost than the server providing them. I would also suggest maybe making items craftable by all classes by maybe making an npc enchanter that would raise the cost say 10-20%, but its an option. I myself have had characters who just want to have a magic chain shirt and can't find a caster to enchant it for him.
